Hi, Stella told me I had to introduce myself, since she is tired of me lurking and butting in unannounced. So here goes: Will be old this year - 50; grandma of two - both beautiful girls; mother of two - horsey daughter & non horsey son; wife of 30 years - he's supportive of horse habit, but into tractors not horses; horse owner of one - 7 year old AQHA red dun gelding (Butch aka Dun Passing Time); work - USPS; volunteer - 4-H and county fair; location - where the corn grows in north central IL (15 min from Stella, 30 min from Snaffle, less than hour from Mary Ann). Yell at me if I forgot anything. Here's a picture of Butch laughing at the snow taken in December of this year:

Welcome to the forum! Can I assume from your username and avatar that you have/like Appies?

Yep, I have 4 Appy geldings of various ages, and I trail ride constantly 3 seasons out of the year. I live in north central IL on 8-acre heavily wooded property, married (he's not a horsey husband ), mid-40s, no kids (we are DINKs), 1 dog (GSP = German Shorthaired Pointer), and 2 spoiled barn cats. As for who told me that there were NICE people here..... Looking forward to pleasant threads and postings for a change...

Let me guess, you came from a board where an individual's right to be opinionated and mean trumped the rights of any other? We have our share of opinions and ideas, but we all try to share them with them tact and appreciation of other's feelings and opinions. Always keeping in mind that there's usually more than one side to every situation and that there may be no "right" or "wrong," and even if we feel our way is the right way, we may not be able to change another's opinion, and that's okay. ETA: I suppose I could have shortened all that to RESPECT of one another.

Hello all! I'm a newbie. Recruited by my 'adoptive' mother, Snaffle! I had the pleasure of meeting some of you ladies yesterday in Harding. I'm happy that I recognize a few names from other boards and am excited to join in on a peaceful one!
