Hi, Chris! What a nifty-cool neato board you made here!!! This is really over the top! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! Let's see, for the benefit of those who might come along that don't know me, I'm Mary Ann. I'm an old lady in northcentral Illinois. I have five horses; a retired show horse turned trail horse, a guy I've been actively showing that's the Poster Child for allergies, my retired horse's two year old son that should make it to the show pen next year, a weanling Friesian stud colt, and a cute new little pony for the grandkids! I train in a barn not far from home, on a beautiful farm. Great people there, and fun horses. I can't imagine a life without horses, and enjoy talking with people who feel the same way as I do about them!

Chris, this should be a great place - Thanks!
I'm 46 and live near Houston, TX. I have an 18 yr old green-broke Arabian mare and LOTS still to learn about horses. Laara lives at my home - 2 1/3 acres - along with 1 dog (Angel) (and maybe another coming soon) and several chickens. I have bi-lateral hip replacements that are almost 4 years old. It's hard to believe it has been that long.

D'oh!!! Wrote a long intro, but then lost it when I realized I wasn't logged in! I'm Edwina (Evelyn), I live a little north of Chris near Kansas City, been riding 22 years, loving every minute. Focused mostly on classical dressage now, but have spent a lot of time on trail/distance riding. (When I say distance, I mean 20 miles max, so you can tell I'm a lightweight, eh?) I'm a horseless rider who's lucky to have a couple of friends who let me ride their great horses, including Chris, our moderator. I am actively looking for the right horse now, however...so we'll see where that goes. I have owned my own in the past, but frequent moves have made it impractical for the last couple of years. Thanks for the new venue, Chris!

Welcome, Edwina! I'm so pleased that this forum will afford me the opportunity to meet some new horsemen, as well as keep up with others that I already know well.
I look forward to hearing more from you!

Hi, I'm Elsie, 60+ and retired now. I have been obsessed with horses all my life and never outgrew it. I live in Nortonville, KS, which is 35 miles north of Lawrence and 35 miles NE of Topeka. I have had horses, primarily Tennessee Walkers, since 1961. I breed Tennessee Walkers and focus on the versatility type that can do anything and do it smoother. I also added the bonus of colors, buckskin, palomino, cremello and one bay mare that spits out buckskins (7 in 7 years). I have 5 TWH mares, a cremello TWH stallion, whose mother and grandmother are here and a mini stallion who is 31 inches tall and 32 years old and going strong. I have helped people find TWHs for CTR and know of one doing well in NATRC that is for sale because of family problems. I have know Chris since she was a teen. Is it possible to receive all the posts in digest format as it is easier to keep up. Elsie

If I'm from California, and say This Is Cool, is it considered a cliche'? OMIgosh, look at all these little boxes! It will take me months to figure this out..../me [ftp][/ftp]

just humor me and let me get this over with. ;D TEXTTEXTTEXT TEXT(At this point someone is asking who let the kid in here...) I'm a very late forties (my odometer is going to roll over soon, and if I were a car, I'd be in danger of flunking my smog emissions test) hopeless nerdette who lives in Northern California in the Sierra foothills, and I have been blessed with horses in my adult life. We trail ride. The scenery is too good to do anything else here. Where we live it is oak/grass savanagh but if you go just a little higher up it turns into pine forest. It does not rain here in summer but rains all winter. We used to live in the Midwest North of Kansas City or South of Iowa, and it was that experience that convinced us we don't really need to experience 30 below zero anymore to have a fufilled life. We had Arabians and they have crossed the bridge, and now we have Paints. I have an oversized goofy medicine hat gelding, TooTall, whom I've had since he was 4 months old who is very gentle and kind. My so has a normal sized solid sorrel breeding stock Paint gelding who is also vying to be a Poster Child for Benedryl but we THINK we may have that sort of under control now. Since Hive Boy, as the vet refers to him, is not only allergic soybeans but to insect bites and most insecticides, he gets fresh chopped garlic every night and always has garlic breath. We also have a two year old, almost completely white (think a medicine hat who then roaned out and lost his spots) paint gelding who I am doing a little ground work with...white is not exactly my horse color, but the disposition on this guy is fantastic. Every time I've listed him for sale he has injured himself (not seriously, just enough that it looks really bad) so I stopped doing it now until we at least get him trained a little. I am starting to think we need a back up gelding for what Hive Boy(who is also prone to other freak occurances) does next. The only problem with White Mike is that he is going to be as tall as my horse. May as well get him box broke now. We also have a Paint Sabino pattern palomino stallion, I don't talk about him much because he never causes any problems, he's the easiest one of all. He is currently on weanie sitting duty this fall as his 2 companion mares luxuriate in their private pens. We also have a full assortment of barn cats, grey or orange, an extremely nearsighted half great pyrenese dog who has no idea what she is barking at half the time, a mini schnauz, and a half jack russell terrorist/lab/chow mix, and the last survivor of the Great Chicken Coop Racoon Assault, Miss Chicken who lives on the Porch. I am a hopeless tack junkie because my second horse was a Cob sized half Arabian which NOTHING fit and my second horse is a warmblood sized Paint built like a thoroughbred...and NOTHING fits. My fantasy is to tack up next spring and not have to adjust or replace anything but I know that they are changing shape now even as I type....and then there's Mike, built like his dad, large but normal dimensions. At least I have the full assortment of leftovers for him.

Hi, I'm Rosalie, glad to see so many people from the central US. I am in the SW corner of Nebraska, near Colorado and Kansas. I'm in my late 40's, started riding "for real" in my early 30s. I did some CTR's with ECTRA, then moved to California and planned to do Endurance. I did one LD, then life got in the way! Now that I'm in Nebraska on a farm, I have several horses : Stallion and 3 mares (breeding Tiger Horses for an easy gait, great personality and Appy-type color), an oldie-but-goodie Arab gelding, and his pony pal. One of the breeding mares has just been started under saddle and I think she will be great at CTR's, not sure yet about endurance. (Although, if she would get pregnant, I'd have her have a few babies ) Oh yes, we also have two dogs, two indoor-only persian cats and some barn cats, and my Hubby who runs it all while I'm at work all day. I'll quit for now Rosalie

Hi, there! Some know me as Lori B on other forums, I wasn't paying attention when I registered here, LOLOL. Duh. Anyway. I'm a 30 something mom of two kids, and a horse and pony, two goldfish, two dogs and soon a leopard gecko. Okay, well the fish, gecko and pony are technically my almost 8 year old daughter's. I hope this will be a fun board, a place to learn and laugh! ;D

A lot of you know me from Stableminds. Been there forever! LOL! I'm really Jackie, a 39 year old factory worker with more critters than sense! I have 5 horses including Rose the Arabian mare, Candy the Foxtrotter mare, A pinto NSH gelding (Weaver the love of my life!) a 2 year old Morgan - Percheron PMU colt named Zeus and the Grandma of the place, Honey a 20 something QH mare who is teaching me to ride again. I also have a big dumb dog named Buck, 3 house cats, 120 gallon saltwater aquarium (several smaller ones too) A big garden pond full of Koi and about 30 Bantam chickens. I live in SE MO in the edge of the Ozarks on a 45 acre farm, which I am busy clearing trails and building fences on, well at least I need to be! Thanks Chris for another reason to avoid working while I'm at work! LOL! ;D

Hi everyone, this is Val! I am a 40 yr old DVM from Dallas area, proud owner of 5 horses, 2 mules, 3 standard donkeys, 1 Holstein steer, & assorted dogs, cats & guinea pigs... But I know everyone's here to talk about their HORSES so I won't brag on the other critters who have made it thru my one-way pasture gate: #1) Molly, 27 yr old QH mare, mother of #2) Sahara, 12 yr old QH mare & my primary endurance mount at this time and #3) Quigley, 8 yr old QH gelding, "on vacation" now #4) Wynkhy, 19 yr old Arab gelding, my retired endurance horse, and "last but not least" #5) Baraq, 2 yr old Arab gelding whom I bought from Chris this spring!!! This should be fun, but more later as I need to get back to work to pay that feed bill!! ;D
