Hi, everybody, this is Elizabeth, alias Littljoe. I live in the Kansas City area, and board my horses at a farm next to a large park (Shawnee Mission). Just had my speed-limit birthday (the energy crisis one!), and love distance riding much more than my behavior would indicate, since until just recently I could afford neither truck nor trailer. Since Chris kindly sold me HER old trailer for a song and a saddle, now I'm on the lookout for a rackety old diesel to pull it--and starting next spring, I will be at EVERY ride I can!
We have two horses: Hilltop Sur Keem, aka Beejer, Beej, Keem, Budgaroogar, and about 40 other nicknames--a 21-year-old Polish Arab, flashy Khemosabi grandson, and the best horse I'll ever know, much less own. He carries beginners with eggshell care, balances himself under invalids better than any therapy horse, and gives good horsemen the ride of their lives. Little Joe, a Barb-type mustang from Nevada, sturdy little bright bay just under 14 hands and the smartest horse around. Not tamed or gelded until 5, he will always be independent and wilful, but is also a phenomenal trail horse if you let him have his say about things.
I have two daughters--one 22 years old who doesn't ride much, and one 19 years who is the best rider I've ever seen and a very good trainer too.
And one husband who rides maybe twice a year.
I think I'm going to enjoy this board!

Hello Everyone!
I'm 37, I've been horse crazy since birth (my parents were non-horsey, aside from the farm horses they had growing up) but finally relented & bought a pony when I was 9 & I've owned a horse or two ever since.
I live in Maryland with my husband & son. We have 1 arab gelding, 1 dog, 3 cats & 5 quail. I board Laredo at a friend's farm, & also take care of a few other horses for friends & family.
This board is a terrific idea!

Hi! I live in North Idaho on 4 miles of dirt road about 7 miles from I-90. I have three horses--one to ride, one to mow the pasture and one to mow the lawn. We officially own one dog, but when I ride, somehow I seem to end up with two extras that belong to the neighbors. We also have two cats and a dwarf rabbit who thinks electrical cords are his favorite food. I don't compete--I ride for pleasure only. I have been at this for a half century now. I live on the toe of the mountain so it is out the back door and into the woods. My mount is a Paso Fino mare outfitted with an Ansur saddle and a rope halter for a bridle. Since the newest fashion item is dying blue jeans to make them look dirty--I am finally fashionable!!! (Of course, when there is a fashion change, I will still wear dirty blue jeans.) Fashion Police--stay away from Dudley! Linda

Hi everyone: I don't know a thing about endurance riding but it sure sounds like a good time. I'm thinking about giving it a try. Wish me luck----oh and if you hear someone whining in the woods---That would be me! ;D Hey Dudley: Is the coffee ready yet??

Hi, My name is Betsy and I am 66 and have had horses for most of my life except for 20 years of raising kids and being married to a non-animal husband. I like to do CTR, Endurance, foxhunt and drive.I have 5 horses: a retired 25 yr old TB I have had for 20 years (my wonderful old hunt mare) a retired 25 yr old QH( hunt horse, endurance horse and 2000 NATRC horse) , a 12 year old Arab, a 4 yr old Anglo Arab, 12 yr old Selle Francais and a fantastic driving pony. No he's mine, not for the grandkids! Also 3 dogs, 3 cats and one goat named Clark, who does everything he can think of to become a house goat.! I support this group by working as a RN at the Univ. of Kansas Medical center. I live south of Kansas City, KS near Chris and Leslie. Not only do I love my horses, but I love their stuff. I am a tack and equipment junkie. I am recovering from a bad riding accident in August (Jen patched me up) and have started back riding this week and will return to work in 2 weeks.

Hi Everybody. I'm a regular at Stable Minds and an occasional lurker at Liberty. Been horse crazy since I was born, supposedly horse was my second word! We were city folks but my parents were great about getting me lessons. I got my first pony when I was twelve. Stayed busy showing, jumping, fox hunting, and Pony Clubbing. My biggest riding honor was to be invited to train with the United States Combined Training Association which feeds riders into the Olympics. The best trainer I worked with was Monte Foreman, who invented the first balanced seat western saddle. I turned pro after I got married and had a wonderful time teaching riding, training, and taking a show string to shows all over the South. When I started raising my kids, we lived next to a fox hunt and I enjoyed years and years of that. Life drug me away from owning horses, but I've got a looking eye for a horse now, as soon as we get my DH's health problems sorted out. Most recently, I was horse wrangler/ actor trainer for a film shoot. That was FUN! I love sharing horse news with friends on the internet and look forward to getting to know you. Good luck and Happy Riding.

Hi my name is Marci. I live in Oregon, coastal Oregon where it rains allllll winter, and its green green green-at least the parts that aren't covered in wet sand or brown mud. I have 2 dogs, 1 arabian mare, 1 goat to keep her company, and 2 indoor cats with 1 barn feral cat. I am 45, and have bad knees, bad back and am spayed. Gosh everyone on the place is except for the horse and goat. Even hubby, who supports the whole kit and kabboodle.

Howdy! I just stumbled across this board while browsing Chris's website, and I'm SO happy to find it! I can't wait to have more Kansas online friends! Maybe we can get together and ride this summer?!?! My name is Erika, Im 20 years old and live about 45 minutes north of Wichita, Kansas. I have been riding horses for about 8 years, but I've just recently started learning how to *really* take care of horses in the last year or two! We own three geldings-Roscoe, Sonny, and Hank. Roscoe will be 19 this summer. He's my wonder horse ) He's surprised us very much in the 2 years we've owned him-going from an old and ugly plod-along guy, to a VERY good looking and dependable boy! We've found so much training in him that we had NO idea he possessed! He LOVES riding in the arena, lives to race (barrels and poles are his favorite, but he'll do any pattern you put in front of him). He's presented me with a bit of a challenge, as he is NOT content to simply walk down the road or meander down the trails! We're working with a trainer to unleash the awesome potential he's got! Hank is a ? year old dun QH gelding. We bought him as a 15 year old, but the owners were just guessing. He was used as a ranch horse his whole life, and then put out to pasture for 2 years. The man we bought him from had decided he was going to sell all of his broke horses and focus on colts. Hank is a very gentle, easy going boy, but he's very sensitive. He tries VERY hard to please, and can get frustrated if he doesn't understand what you're asking! With weekly lessons, he's blossomed into quite the dependable boy! I loved him when I bought him, but he's absolutely incredible now! And we've only owned him 4 or 5 months-I can't imagine what he'll be like a year from now! Hank will be my trail horse. He's very content to simply ride down a trail and enjoy the scenery, without having to keep his mind busy! Sonny is my mom's horse. She'll probably show up here soon and introduce herself as well! Sonny is a 14 year old palomino saddlebred. Again, he came to us about 200lbs underweight with lots of chiropractic issues, but has really been worth all of the work! Of course, now that he's feeling better, he sometimes voices his opinions about what we ask him to do! LOL! He's very sweet and gentle natured, but doesn't know much at all. We're pretty much starting at the beginning and working our way up with him! Sonny and my Mom share a bond that I have never seen before. One day, we got home and Sonny was out of the pasture, we found him in the maize field adjoining our fence. Sonny was very confused, and you could see he had paced the fence trying to find a way back in. He was very calm when I got to him, just glad to see someone he knew. Then, Mom came walking down the road, calling to me to see where I was. Sonny began looking around frantically, whinnying and nickering, trying to blaze a trail through the trees to get to Mom. You could see the relief in his eyes when he finally found her-he just dropped his head right into the halter she had for him! Soooo. . .that's my story in a (large) nutshell! I look forward to getting to know all of you, and speaking with those I already know in a smaller setting!
