Welcome Susan! My husband is in the military also. We still have 8 more years until he is able to retire though We will be moving to Ft Hood at the beginning of April. Maybe I'll see you at some distance rides? Are there Competitve rides in Texas other than NATRC? Vicki

It's been so long since I first checked in that I actually re-registered! My introduction is back on page one...I registered as Edwina then. D'oh!
Anyway, since then, a lot of water under the bridge. Just a month ago I got myself a 9yo appy gelding, named Stormy. I'm not a fan of names like that and he doesn't have a stormy disposition, but I feel it would be disrespectful to change it at this point. And, as my husband says, "You're just going to end up calling him Bobo anyway!"
Stormy has been a trail horse and most recently a ranch horse, ridden only western. However, he is built at least a little uphill (a lot uphill for a western horse) and is naturally balanced. I ride dressage and he's beginning to get the idea about the new reining thing pretty well.
I have a husband, 4.5 year old daughter, sheepdog and good grey cat. I board my horse at a public boarding barn and live in Lawrence, KS. I met Chris on the ex-racers forum and since then have had the pleasure of riding with her a few times. I'm looking forward to more of that soon, on my own horse this time!
Here's hoping I can keep up a little better. Nice to be here. Best, E

Hi all. I think I've stopped in and said hi before, but haven't been around in a long time. So in a nut shell, I know Chris from ExRacers. I have two horses. One 29yo horse, Flynn, that thinks he's 3. His breeding is up in the air. I tend to lean towards, Morgan, maybe Tennessee Walker (without the flashy action). Or even Missouri Fox Trotter. Who knows, he's been a great horse and if you just want to just get somewhere he will. I should have gotten into endurance with him, but we were playing at local barrel shows instead. ;D As for the other one, he's a now 12yo (boy does time fly) Thoroughbred, BJK's Zentetta (Zen) I picked up at an auction. He hasn't done as much as Flynn, but that's more because I work to much these days. We are all in Illinois, not to far from Chicago.
Anyway, Hi all, and I'll try to stop around when I can. ;D

Hey Zen! I didn't realize you lived here too! Whereabouts around Chicago do you live? I'm clear out in the corn, but go into the suburbs to go to the Saddler's Row tent sale, and Barrington Saddle Shop for the same thing. We also shop there at other times, too. Stay general, but if you don't want even that on a public board, you can PM me. It's fun to have other Illinoisians (is that a word?) here! Especially if they're Cubs fans! ;D

YAY! Another Cubs fan. Though sometimes I wonder about the sanity of it. hehehe It's 50-50 in my family. How the heck did that happen? Don't know, but I'm with the friendlier fans anyway. ;D I'm in Westmont, pretty big town, so not too worried about stalkers. LOL The woman at Saddlers Row does excellent repair work. Bought a saddle at the other place a long, long, long, did I say, long time ago. LOL The horse world is small isn't it? OK, ya want pics. Here's Zen with the love of his life. And here's my decrepit old horse Flynn.

Aww, that little Longears guy has a smile on his face! What a sweet picture! And Flynn appears to be neither old nor decrepit. He looks fabulous! These old ones are so special; give him a hug for me, will ya? I lost my old girl last fall, and there's a bit of an empty spot in my heart. Westmont is a suburb to those of us out in the corn. Scary word, that. If you go south and get on Ogden, and drive and drive and drive, not until you've reached the edge of the earth but when you can see it ahead, my house will be on your left. Joye's just a couple of miles from me in a little town that has gas pumps at one place. Hey, my town has *two* places to buy gas! And here's a question for a fellow Cubs fan. Nobody's naming names, but they say that when Sammy's boombox was smashed last year because the salsa music coming out of it was too loud, too continuous, and too obnoxious, and it was done by "a large pitcher with a large bat." So who do you think it was, Wood or Prior? I'm so pleased that you're here!

Hi, everyone! I just got my posting problem worked out, so you'll be seeing me a lot more often.
My name is Wendy, and I live east of Charlotte, NC. I am an Ohio Yankee, really, but it's nice living here. I have a hubby, Daddio, and 3 human children - Shannon, Matt, and Robin (Littleyip). They range in age from 30 down to 24.
I have been a pet lover all my life and horse-crazy since I was a toddler. I never had any contact with horses (except the once a summer pony ride) but kept the dream alive every way I could. When I was 48.5, I finally got my first horse and riding lessons! That was 3 yrs. ago and I've been going strong since then.
I am currently owned by a 13 yo. red roan TWH mare - Rose - and an 8 yo. palomino Haflinger (or close cross!) mare - Cookie. They are good horses who are both loaded with personality. They both adore ME and are jealous when I give attention to the other. I still consider myself a beginner rider, and I just hack around our 10 ac. property amnd the hayfields across the street. There are woods there too, with loads of potential for making trails that lead to more fields beyond. I am happy with this for now because I am so blessed to have realized my dream.
I am also owned by two dogs: a 9 yo. sheltie - Cody a 2 yo. collie, Teine (CHAYnee)
three DSH cats: Dodger, all black Jasmine mostly black tortie Bella, mostly brown tortie
