Well, I may as well be in a 12 step program!
I used to post at Acme as BossMare. I also posted at SM as BossMare then as JustMary. I see a lot of familiar faces here!
My hub and I are empty nesters with 2 grown sons and 3 grandchildren. Both sons are in the service , one navy and one army. We are proud!
We have 4 Foundation QH's. We raised 3 of them from my old mare, Missy, (23 this year). Missy's oldest son is Smokey, who is 15 this year. Second son is Rowdy 5, who is my horsey soul mate! Youngest, daughter Sneaker, 4 (who has quite a story to her beginnings. More about that later).
I go to WFQHA shows whenever I can. Rowdy does cutting and ranch cutting, ranch riding (like Western pleasure, but at more natural speeds), ranch reining and trail. He does really well. We won an awful lot last year at the regular WFQHA shows here in Missouri. We also went to their world show, where we did quite well. He earned a WC in JR AM Trail, a Res WC in Ranch riding and in Ranch cutting. We placed in every class we entered in the JR AM division. Needless to say I was quite pleased with his performance. Sorry for the shameless brag!
Anyway, besides the 4 horses, we have 2 dogs and 3 barn cats. Whenever I can, I also keep cattle for a friend. That way I can play with them to keep Rowdy in top shape for his cutting events.
Sorry this got so long. I am glad to be here. This seems like a comfortable place to pull up a chair and visit.
Mary

Sneaks is 4 this year. She has an appointment in the breeding shed this spring. I didn't intend to breed her so soon, but to make a long story short, it was breed her or lose my stud fee. She is quite the little princess. She wears a saddle, but has never been backed. I don't know if I will ever break her to ride. If she has the sort of foals I think she is capable of, she won't have to earn her keep as a riding horse. She is perfectly healthy, and has no special needs whatsoever. I'll post pics as soon as I get that part of this board figured out. I have sort of been following your wedding plans. When is the big day?

;D Hello..thought I would stop by and say Hi! I hope I'm welcome since I've kinda stumbled across this forum when someone posted it in SM. For those who don't know me..well my name is Merri and I've been riding for about 3years. I'm 22yrs old and I'll be married for 4years in April (wooho!). I LOVE my hubby! Currently I'm taking lessons about once a week now that the weather is turning nice and I'm still horseless (though I'm working on that:) I think I've found the one but I won't say that until the money is put down! I'm so excited about it! For those who haven't seen my prospect here's a quick picture of her and me (hopefully it will work!)

Hi! My name is Susan, Chris invited me to the board -- I've bought her Anglo colt Prize/Moon. She's waiting very patiently for me to come and get him! I'm late 40-something, horse crazy since birth. My husband calls it the birth defect for horses. Ha! He's very encouraging about my obsession. I have two Arab geldings, Buddy and Gus, who will both be 16 this year. They are my endurance horses, although we took last year off while we relocated to south Texas (near San Antonio). I recently bought a coming 4 year old Quarter Horse gelding, Murdoch. He's had a lot of ground work, and has been ridden at walk. He's my first youngster to bring along and I'm a tad anxious about that. He's very calm and willing though, easy to work with. Soon I'll bring home Moon Pie, my first baby to raise. Lucky for him I'll get to learn the ropes on Murdoch. I like to do basic dressage with all the horses, but my main interest is distance riding. I like endurance although I ride really slow. I like to get my full money's worth at every ride. I have two grown children - a daughter 25 who lives in Dallas, and a son 22 who just moved back home while he finishes college. My husband is in the army, but will be retiring in a few years so we're here in Texas to stay. This is my first experience with a message board, please bear with me while I learn the ins and outs. Susan

Welcome Susan - I'm your neighbor to the north in Oklahoma. We raise Quarter Horses, though we also have a couple paints, an app and right now an Arab just for good measure. You can see all my babies - way too many mention in one post - at my website.
You'll do fine here, just jump in.
