Earlier this week I was up 1/2 pound. grumble grumble. I have had to rethink my strategy. I no longer have my glass of milk with breakfast. I have it for supper. 1 1/2 - 1 /34 of fresh raw cow's milk. I refuse to give that up. There are too many good things in it and it is very refreshing and VERY satisfying. Approx 260 calories. I am now adding more olive oil to my mornng skillet. From what I have been reading, I was not taking in enough good oils. I have increased the diced garlic to my morning eggs. I am adding a heaping teaspoon. I cheat and buy the jar of diced garlic in the produce section. I know I know... I should be using fresh. I have increased the amount of cranberry juice in my quart of water. I went from 1/2 cup to 2/3 of a cup. I am not drinking it like the Fat Flush Plan says ... except for first thing in the morning with psyllium. I leave the bottle set out on the counter to remind me to drink it. I have increased the lemon juice in my cup of hot water before breakfast to 2 tablespoons. I am trying to increase the amount of water I drink per day. I don't think I was drinking enough... maybe so... maybe not I have now lost 8 pounds since Jan 1. The scale showed a bit of a loss this morning. My goal was to have 10 off by now. For lunch we will have corned beef, cabbage and red potatoes. This is a seasonal food and I do not want my family to go without it, so we will watch our portions!

Well you must pick out good jeans because you look like a little person. My biggest hurdle is not undoing my whole day by snarfing down cookies after supper.

That amazes me when you say that. The blubber on my gut and thighs is soooo gross!! I measured my arm, hips and thighs this morning... oh my gosh... tumbo lard ass. Those late night snack traditions are VERY hard to break. I know exactly what you mean. You have no idea how hard it was for me to break the popcorn tradition! Last winter I had popcorn once. This year... none so far.

I loooooove lemon juice in my water. Congrats on *some* movement of the scale...my loss has slowed down a lot too.

Mine too. But I think some is because its turning into muscle. I have been swimming now for several months and though the scale stayed the same (or so it seems) the sizes go down and in the Dr appointments every 3 months there is some loss. So that is good news. I would like to drop another 25 lbs but at least the unexplained weight loss has slowed, that was fun but kind of scary. Course right now I bet a lb of the weight is from the giant bruise from being kicked on my hip/thigh area. LOL Its a lovely colorful thing-NOT.

I love lemon in water as well. I usually buy a bunch of lemons at a time and then slice them up and stick them in the freezer. I drop a slice in my water whenever I have a glass. Duel purpose- its frozen so its acts like a flavored ice cube.

Chewing on ice cubes is great to get your "crunch" without calories.

I have a weight loss book that advised to weigh daily and take a weekly average because water retention will bounce your weight around by 2-3 lbs and it can be demoralizing or a false sense of success and "should up calories so don't lose too fast" with only weighing weekly and I totally see it on my scale. But I understand the advise not to weigh too often because when I have an extra high bounce UP it is not easy to just go 'no worries I will average it out' I can totally see how one could start on the path to bulimia trying to 'get rid of this stupid blip'

I do much better if I weigh first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

FINALLY a bit of a loss for me, too. Now that riding season is pretty much in full swing, I'm outside and active more.
I've been *trying* to watch my calories and track them with myfitnesspal on my iphone, but I'm not always so good at it.
Above my waist, except for my arms, I feel like I'm starting to look normal, except from my waist down I feel like a marshmallow in a microwave.
This morning my scale FINALLY put me a bit closer to my "normal" weight. Normal for me is still at the point where my weight loss is vanity, but I'm a lot more comfortable. A few more pounds and I'll be where I was a year ago.

I think this is a good recommendation. FYI - I had surgery and gained literally 10 pounds in a day. It was all water weight because they just pump you full of fluids. It was gone in a few days, but can be startling! I have a weight loss book that advised to weigh daily and take a weekly average because water retention will bounce your weight around by 2-3 lbs and it can be demoralizing or a false sense of success and "should up calories so don't lose too fast" with only weighing weekly and I totally see it on my scale.
