When my last Diet Cherry Coke is gone, I will not buy anymore. At least I'll try. I have plenty of no calorie diet raspberry tea that I love and I can drink that and water. I also love the Celestial Seasonsings Zingers - you dump the packet into a bottle of water and its full of antioxidants. So, here I go...cold turkey. I'm not worried about the caffeine withdrawel as I still have my coffee.

Its called Zingers To Go - I like the Wild Berry Chill flavored. Its all natural and calorie free. Its sweetened with stevia. Its an herbal blend of hibiscus, orange peel, rosehips, raspberry and boysenberry. (I have the box right in front of me). Its in the coffee and tea section of the grocery store. It has little packets that you pour into a 16.9 oz bottle of water or a glass with 2 cups of water. Its really good stuff!

I think my problem is that I always have to have something in my hand... When I go into the car I always grab a soda. So, I'm going to just have to replace that with tea. Its going to be a hard one for me. When I got married my biggest panic was that I didn't have a diet Coke in the morning so I had to run to the gas station and get one. (my parents don't drink soda so they didn't have any in the house).

That was the *ah ha!* moment for my daughter. She was drinking Mountain Dew, if I remember right, and one evening she realized her hubby drank the last of it. She was furious because that meant she'd have to go out to get some for morning. That's when she said Wait A Minute; she realized she didn't have the Mountain Dew, the Mountain Dew had her.She doesn't do anything with caffeine now, not even decaf coffee or soda. For her, the closest it gets is some Hi-C when she gets a burger. Mostly it's herbal teas now, or just plain water. I'm going to look for the Celestial Seasonings stuff! I'd be surprised if they used a bunch of carp to make it go, and stevia's not too bad. It's a nice choice for when we go to the convenience store and there's NOTHING IN THERE we can have!

Newfygirl the best thing I did for myself was to keep a case of bottled water in the trunk of my car. I stop and grab one whenever I get thirsty, if I need a bit of a pick me up I add a Zipfizz from Costco to it.

This is going to be a hard one for me...I'm sort of addicted to diet coke. Oh, MA- I can completely relate to your daughter's mountain dew thing.

They might pry a diet dr pepper out of my cold, dead hands! When I travel I have learned that I need to take my soda with me. Like you I grab something heading out the door. I don't play games with it either.
I wish you luck quitting soda!! Lisa

I've done it in stages. I no longer have Dr Pepper at home unless I'm eating pizza. I choose water most of the time when I go out - unless it is mexican, italian, etc. I did have Dr Pepper at my party Saturday and do get it at Taco Bell.

That was how we did it, Dorothy, baby steps.
Now, it is not an issue, but it wasn't overnight.
Water is my drink of choice 90% of the time now. The other time, I put a nice fruit tea bag into the water if I want something more.

I was a Diet Coke addict for a loooong time. I mad ethe decision to cut way back, and went from 3-4/day down to one a day, and finally down to one only very occasionally, maybe once a month or so. I have a weird thing where if I tell myself I'm NEVER going to have one again, I'll crave it all the time, but if I just sort of wean myself off slowly, and never say never, then it isn't much of an issue.
Now, DO NOT mess with my coffee! I have two cups in the morning, and sometimes I'll have one in the evening - they do not keep awake at all, but I just LOFF coffee. The rest of the time I have a bottle of water, herbal teas - right now I'm enjoying a cup of Celestial Seasonings Caramel Chocolate Chai Spice - umm umm ummm. And if I'm eating in a restruant, it's iced tea - just love that stuff, too.

Karen - that Celestial Seasonings Caramel Chocolate Chai Spice sounds yummy. Does it have calories, and where do you get it? It sounds like something I need right now.
