The wind rocked the trailer half the night at Kanopolis Lake Friday night, which translates to little sleep. But the Arkansas trailer worked great.
Sat. am was early, chilly but windless and as the sun came up was just beautiful. I rode safety w/ Judy (who is a whoot). About 3 miles out the other safey riders caught up to us, Timers got horses out very quickly and they were still tacking up when we left.
Maggi was doing everything perfectly she was great.
Judy had to take two rider back to camp, one of the horse slipped off the trail and rolled down a bank, the gal thought maybe she had broken a finger so they pulled out.
All was great til about the 14 mile mark, CP & Novice were gathered for a gate obsitcal. As we approached them Open rider started coming up from behind and "M" got nervous. I was hot and started to take of my coat, (I had worked her alot with slickers) The coat stuck to my sweaty arm adn wouldn't come off, "M" went to buckin. Rode it for a while but then hit the ground. I sure don't bounce as well I as use to. I was surprised that "M" was a easy to catch as she was since I am the only one that really has handled her. Got the wind knocked out of me but after a few minutes remounted and went on.
Walked mostly to the next P&R. then trotted mostly to the next obstical. "M" started acting super nervous, I dismounted to straighted out the saddle pad and that was all she wrote. I was so dizzie and disoriented I couldn't stand. I guess "M" felt it before I did.
A trailer was sent for us, we were only 2 miles from camp.
elbow, shoulder and ribs are pretty brused but I will live to ride again. just not for a day or two.
So along with other first for the weekend include my first fall at a CTR and first trailer ride back to camp. At least those first are now out of the way ;D But riding the country side around Kanopolis Lake, I know why this sport is so addictive. It was awsome.
Oh ye "M" figured out how to get her saftey snap unsnapped at 3am.
so that was my weekend
