If you ever need anyone to tie you a rope halter that is custom, they will be very happy if you use this form. The reason you want the custom tie-job is because your horse doesn't fit in "off the shelf" halters that fit some "normal" horse somewhere---or, more likely, a plastic horse-head model. And, a Chinese plastic horse-head at that..... Measure how you want it to fit. Don't measure the nose tightly, then be upset when the halter arrives just as tight as your measurements. A safe thing to do is order 4-5 inches extra on the crown piece. You can ALWAYS make that shorter, but extra length there makes the halter fit more horses. Since one of these halters is made from about 20 feet of expensive rope, you don't want to skimp on a few inches on the end. You shorten that crown piece by wrapping dental floss tightly around and around where you want the end to be. Cover about a half inch of the two pieces of rope with tightly-wrapped dental floss. Now, cut off the end at the dental floss. Take a lighter and start melting the ends of the rope together. You can get as fancy as you want, but that really is the basics. You can over-wrap the end with something more decorative when you have finished.
