Well I have hamstring tendinitis at the pelvis inserstion point on my left side. Apparently I developed this about December last year and never realized it with all the other workout pain etc. I've been going through. It's always been a nagging thing, but I've always managed to push through. Last week I was dancing Fox Trot with David. He took us into a grapevine move. Something popped - shooting pain, it took a few mins for me to put my eyeballs back in my head and peel my grip from his hands. So at night I've been sitting on an ice pack, 20 mins on, 20 mins off, 20 mins back on. By the time I'm finished I'm FREEZING. I went to an orthopedic Dr today. I have my eye on competing in San Antonio in January. I'm not going to make it unless I found out what's up. He said it could be fixed pretty fast with some PT work. I can keep dancing as long as I don't do moves that irritate it. SO Fox Trot, American Waltz and V. Waltz are out. Bolero is a bit iffy at this point. Oh and we can not do the Twin Citys move in West Coast Swing. I can now say in all honesty .... This has been a big pain in the butt!! I'm glad I can get it fixed up fast according to the doctor.

It's amazing how quickly PT can fix a lot of things!
I was able to get my plantar faciitis cleared up with about 5 sessions and some home exercises (and ice!)

Hoping for a quick heal! It will probably help that you are in good shape and your muscles are strong.

Thanks everyone for the healing thoughts.
It's been a hard week, in that I keep reading all the posts from those competiting in Ohio this week. Ohio is the largest dance comp in the U.S. Our Texas students are doing very well this year. This so makes me want to work harder to get ready for my small comp in January. I can only do what my body will allow me to do .... at this time!

Well this hamstring tear/tendionitus has NOT been a quick heal. I did that in early November. I was in therapy for November through December. I got really sick with the "lung crud" January 1. It took about 3 weeks to get over it. I did not go to the San Antonio dance competition in January like I had planned, lost my deposit.
I've set my sights to doing the Lone Star Ball dance comp here in Dallas March 21. My rhythm/Latin is really good now. My problem is stamina. I HAVE to improve on that!
While I was sick in January I took off from PT as well as from my personal trainer. This has allowed more time for the hamstring to heal. I've noticed my eye balls don't tend to fall out when I go up the stairs to the parking deck at work. Last nigth I took my brother's starter Waltz group class to "test the waters." $10 is a lot less to lose if I couldn't cut it than my private lesson cost. Also I didn't want to be pushed futher and faster as I tested the waters. I know my instructor would do that to me. My calfs were yelling after class because they are not use to all the rises in Waltz. Also I didn't hydrate well yesterday and all 4 limbs tried to cramp up on me in protest. LOL One thing I HAVE noticed is I am sort strided on the left/bad side. I need to get into Marci's ballroom yoga class as soon as she starts it back up. She's been sick, then had a bad abscessed tooth that made her look like she had the mumps. Medication did not agree with her and made her sick too. Poor girl.
At Cristhmas my dad was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. At 82 they don't do surgery. He's lucky it's all still contained in the prostated - no break out where it attacks the bones/hips. He's undergoing 45 days straight of radiation. Once a day. Apparenly this has been a very sucessful treatment. Several guys in my mom's Sunday school class have gone through this and have been cured. We are praying this works for Dad too. The hormone therapy part has him really PMSing. (A nice thought for us too would be good please)

Oh gee, I had hoped that hamstring was in better shape by now. Soft tissue takes forever to heal! Gentle stretches should help over time - that yoga class sounds good!
I'm sorry to hear about your dad - but his treatment sounds very promising! Prayers that things go smoothly for him.
