As you might remember I was forced to go to 3rd shift, DH is still on my old shift which is nights but it's 12 hours a shift and you never work more than 3 days in row before you have 2 or 3 days off. On 3rd shift you get a day and a half off a week and you work every Sunday night, DH and I only have 1 day a week off together and either he or I will have worked that morning so we never get to go any were or do any thing together. We have both gained weight, his caused him to start snoring to the point that he has to sleep on the couch or neither of us is going to sleep. He's asleep when I get home in the morning and he's gone already when I get up. We have really grown apart this year, we still talk when he is home but he sleeps more than he's awake.
I have fought and begged for my old shift back, the plant manager avoids me. None of my bosses have any interest in getting me back to my old shift because it will cost the department a little more money and that's all that matters to them, even though the company is losing thousands every week that I am on 3rd. I work in the parts department and with out me there people are "stealing", most of it is still in the building but it is not being accounted for, one week there was over $14,000 lost and I only make $34,000 a year. Saving money aren't they?
Any way.... the guy who is on days is trying to get another job in another department, if he goes my friend might get his job and if she does, then I get her job on second shift. While it is still nights, it's a million times better than 3rd and DH can get on the same shift. He's not wild about the idea as he will lose all those extra days off that he's used to and actually a couple of hundred dollars a month. I spent years on 2nd so I know that I can deal with it, plus having DH on the same shift will change every thing for us. Riding together will save nearly $200 a month on gas and we will be going to bed at 2AM instead of 9AM for me and no driving in alone at 10 at night this winter. BIG difference!
While it sounds simple, a lot of things have got to happen. The day shift guy has to get a job that dozens of people are trying for and well, no one wants to work with him, he's a major jerk and proud of it. I gave him the nick name of "Pee-nis with ears" and it suits him! My friend has to get his job, it's a "setup" job which is a higher job grade than she is but she is a far better person for the job than the fool doing it now and the bosses know it. Now if she gets it, my 2nd shift spot is a given since I have 24 years of seniority in the plant.
So if you have time, a few help Jackie go to 2nd shift prayers would sure be appreciated! You folks have done wonders before!
