Not a new pony or horse but an abetta buddy saddle. He's gotten too big to ride in front of me and even though he THINKS he should be able to ride all by himself he's not quite there yet. So my friend gave me this buddy saddle from when her kids were little. I'm not sure it's totally comfortable for the horse but it should only be until next summer. He's already going on some rides being ponied on his own horse. Here he is being ponied on Izzie - this ride was about 30 minutes. I think it was the first time I ponied him "off the farm". And of course Kelsey and Sofia the wonder pony. Chance is such a slow walker that Kelsey was leading most of the ride. Chance soon figured out she could get up close enough to get some loving.

Both Kelsey and Caiden started riding with me when they were about 1. Kelsey moved to her own horse on a lead rope at 4 and Caiden has already started being on his own some of the time at 3. It all starts with having good, safe, broke horses that you know well. I've had all of mine since they were 3 or younger and AM the boss mare. I expect certain behavior on the ground and in the saddle. It doesn't always hit me until I work with someone else's horses and encounter behaviors that they allow, then I really appreciate my own.
