Yes, he is that kind of snake.
The WORST thing is that people (usually guys) will super feed the snake to get it to be huge (probably in compensation for something they have that ISN'T huge) and then they can't afford to feed it or don't want it anymore because they never really wanted it, they just wanted to feed it until it got huge. And no one wants a huge snake, so they let it loose. It's not that they didn't know, it's that they didn't care.

Yes, he is improving. He is not all pink anymore, but he is blistering on the bottom. It started on the back half of him, which seems to be healing, and it has moved toward the front. But he is more healed than not. I am hoping he is over the hump. It's been nerve rattling.

Sounds like he is on the mend. We used to have many snakes, and fortunately never had any problems with any of them.

Hope he continues healing. For snakes that survive the blisters, how long does it take? I'm sure with your care his chances are better than the average!

Usually you don't want to feed a really sick snake because his digestion might be off and you don't want a bunch of food rotting in his gut... that will kill a reptile pretty fast. A snake his size might take a year or more to starve. He usually eats every three weeks. So, since this has started, I have only fed him just a few very, very small meals and his digestion seems to be okay. So the next step would be to feed him a medium sized meal and see if he digests that. That should take 4-5 days. If he does okay with that, I will feed him a big meal, which should cause him to shed. Once he sheds, we will be able to see better where things are and what stage the healing is at. So that puts it about three weeks out. Until then, we clean the area with Betadine every day and put calendula ointment on it to promote healing. We put Arnica in his water. The good thing about him not eating is that it means he isn't pooping, so it's a lot easier to keep him from laying in excrement.
