Wrap a chain around the post and over a jack and crank or pump it right out of the ground. This might be tricky with some car jacks but with a handyman jack it works really slick and any jack that has enough of a horizontal lifting arm will work. Or do like my dad and make it really easy and use the tractor loader if you have the loader and a long enough chain. This works for broken off wood posts, t-posts, pretty much everything that wasn't cemented in.
