There was enough interest in this that I decided to post to all, in case anybody has a wild hair and wants to try it. Boswellia is in some of the OTC supplements for arthritis and pain, but not in nearly the amounts that would be therapeutic.
This is the site I used for general info and to determine dosage:
www.pegasushealth.com/horse-supplements/boswellia-serrata
General info:

This is where I ordered - after much research I found the prices to be very reasonable and the choices wider. I first ordered the organic, and then the wildcrafted. I would recommend the wildcrafted any day. It is sticky like a resin, it is a light yellow and the horses will eat it without much fuss, even though it's slightly bitter. I was mixing a bit of sugar in with it and top dressing. The organic is gray and gritty - more like Mg than a resin would be.

Quick shipping but you have to watch your package, mine was sent from the mfg to them rather than to me, and though they received my package and knew it, did not contact me or attempt to resend until I caught it and asked why it was showing "delivered" on the tracking number. Just something to watch for. They did set it right immediately but I didn't think ignoring it was the best CS I've ever experienced.
Also, getting a gram scale will help a LOT. I did math, converting the pound to Kg, then measuring with cups and dividing - coming up with a Tbs being about 10 grams. Your mileage may vary so a scale is best. I did finally get one.
As an interesting side note, my co-worker has RA and she's seeing a naturopath to go the non-traditional drug route if she can. Boswellia is one of the supplements he recommended for her and she's been taking it for several months. She's starting to feel better now and is able to do more.
