Apples are pretty easy to propagate, so if you have an older tree with fab fruit that you don't want to loose, you can make a graft and transfer a branch or two to some dumb apple to use as root-stock. Check google for <grafting apple trees> and you will get a lot of good resources, including youtube videos. For trees that need a "male" tree nearby, you can even graft a male branch into an otherwise female tree. Or you can do some "air layers" and make whole new "young" trees: www.ehow.com/how_5519391_air-layer-fruit-trees.htmlAir-layering is easy, I did it a lot as a kid, but you have to wait longer for the tree to get to fruit bearing size. Some of the apples you mention are hybrids, meaning the seed of those apples won't reproduce true. But grafting and airlayering do produce the same fruit as the tree they were taken from. LOL we had a tree that had 3 kinds of apples on it.

I would LOVE to have an apple tree with different types of apples on it!
I only wish I had room for a tree in my back yard. I only have room on my side yard and that won't work. Neighbors had a peach tree in their side yard and people driving by would just pull over and help themselves. They would stip that poor tree of everything.
