Have your thyroid go overactive. Not a good way to lose weight. I went to the Dr. on Thursday - oh my that was just yesterday - after having lost 2 pounds a day for the last 5 days and not being able to sleep for probably 2 week. Yep - thyroid is overactive. Need to lower my dose of synthroid. The not being able to sleep is the worst. My brain told me I was tired but my body wanted to run a marathon or something. The weight loss isn't so bad. I'm so excited to be able to sleep again!
I have found that snacking at night is almost sure to make me gain weight. I had not gained back any of the weight that I lost a couple years ago until Christmas...then I gained around 5 pounds. The hypothyroidism made me lose 10. Its not worth the sleep loss though.

Very interesting!
How long had you been on synthroid? Did your Dr give you any reason why suddenly your thyroid when from hypo to hyper?
Glad you can finally sleep again!

I've been on Synthroid for 12 years. I had my thyroid checked in December and it came back underactive - which was weird - it had been fine on the same dose for probably the last 7-8 years. My Dr bumped it up - actually my Dr was out - the Physician's Assistant bumped it up the last time. Now it should be normal. Whew!

I sure hope you've found a dosage level that works for you. You're totally right; that's definitely not the way to lose weight. Maybe that'll be the end of it for awhile.

I think it will be. Going back to my old dose. I think it was screwed up last time because I had a sinus infection and bronchitus. Bodies do strange things when they have infections.
