I've always cried when I've thought of her story - the fact that she survived her ordeal has always astounded me. I'm very, very blessed to own a great-grand daughter of hers...

Wow . . . I got goosebumps watching this. I'd never heard her story before. What a phenomenal mare . . .
Did they never find out what happened with/to the rig's driver?

I never knew that. My first horse went back to Poco Lena and Doc Bar. He was the old type stocky QH.

That poor mare - I don't know if the photos go exactly with the words but she looked so sore with that foal by her side.

I knew the driver of that truck. He has long passed and speaking ill of him would not do justice to the Cutting Horse Industry. Those who knew the driver are becoming fewer and fewer. He regretted the incident throughout his life, as it really was a tragedy for the health of this great mare. Suffice to say, the legacy that Poco Lena left behind can be seen throughout the Cutting Horse and American Quarter Horse industries. What a Beautiful Mare!
