This hay feeder was probably manufactured in the 70's. It was in fairly decent shape except for some rusted out areas on the bottom of the feed pan located at one end. The feeder measures 3 1/2 feet by 10 feet. I lightly sanded it and then sprayed it with Ospho, a rust preventative $5 (maybe 2 cups). Next I covered it with Rustoleum Primer $25 ?( 1/2 gallon), followed by Rustoleum Paint $20(1 1/2 quarts approx) I purchased a sheet of polymax Board from FarmTek It measured 1/16th inch thick and was a 4 x 10 foot sheet. It arrived by UPS less than 24 hours after placing the order. With shipping, the total was close to $43 tinyurl.com/38l4ehnMy husband cut the piece with a sheet metal tin snips to get an exact fit for the bottom of the feeder. We put flat iron strips along the outer edge of the feed floor bottom to help hold the polymax board in a way that no feed could slide under the edge.
