It's great when our horses trust us enough that we can do our own shots. But since (hopefully) most of us don't do it often enough to be experts, it's nice to be able to review techniques and locations.
This printable PDF bulletin from the Alabama Cooperative Extension System has good explanations and photos of Intramuscular injection sites. It illustrates Neck, Pectoral and Butt areas, and covers things like cleaning or not cleaning the site, the importance of using one needle/syringe per shot, not combining injectables, and needle gauges for various solutions.
