My DH loves home made muffins but cleaning the muffin tins is a PITA. Then I learned if you put a thin layer of oil all over it- top and bottom, down in the cups, the crusty muffin bits won't stick and it's a snap to clean.

I like to use muffin papers and set them in the cups, and then use this scoop. I never have any drips, and cleanup is virtually nothing. We make a lot of muffins and freeze them to dole out as needed, and the store bought ones are hideously gushy and sweet. We prefer homemade too. www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/muffin-scoop

They have some new silicon cupcake liners that are re-usable. That would be great for home, but not great if you are taking the cupcakes to share somewhere. Of course, I wouldn't want to have to wash all 24 of those liners....

I have a silicon cupcake pan. I used it once. They stuck like crazy. Worthless.
