When my DH got home from Denver Sunday night, he had a present for me...
It's a framed poem with a drawing of a grazing, saddled horse in a typical western type scene.
It's called "Now Angels Ride Her" and the author's name is signed at the bottom-looks like Don Bidorp? 'O3.
When Father Time caught my mare the leaves were turning brown. She was suffering and couldn't eat, it was time to put her down.
It's hard to do what you need to when your eyes are soakin' wet. I thought about my childhood and waited for the vet.
I held her halter, talked to her and looked her in the eye. She had no way of knowin' what was makin' her friend cry.
I guess I wasn't ready. When she fell it made me weep. I rubbed her nose and sang to her. She slowly went to sleep.
A breeze blew down from somewhere and brushed away my tears, like a kiss From Heaven for all the happy years.
In my mind she's in a meadow, the grass is long and green. She teaches every kid to ride and becomes their favorite dream.
*********************************
Obviously, I couldn't read through it without crying. It's like it was written about Emmy.

Oh, how thoughtful! Now that should make up for some of the times he frustrates you! That was a seriously thoughtful gift. What a treasure!

Yeah, gals, this is the reminder that for every one thing he does that I vent about on the board, he usually does 2 or 3 very nice and encouraging things I don't vent about He really is quite the catch

*wiping tears* Omigosh, what a sweet gesture! Yes, it sounds like it could have been written about Emmy. What a find; the poem, and the man!

I cryedðŸ˜. I just had to put my pony mare, of 11 years, down Saturday. This perfectly describes her situation as well... Although she could eat perfectly fine, she could no longer walk due to age and joint problems in her knees. Thanks so much for sharing! It helped me a lot with the pain.

I can’t read who the author is? It’s lovely! Can someone tell me who it is? Any other poems by the author?
