denver.craigslist.org/grd/716931482.htmlTobiano Sorrel Mare-behaved, trained, energy, stump broke - It was an intrigueing enough title to make me read the ad but does it mean something to you? And do people really pre-screen ads based on color? Maybe I need to call Lady a silver Paso Fino

No idea on what stump broke is, but people do screen ads based on color.

Ummm...the definition I've heard of stump broke is very...very...very naughty...and disgusting. Maybe they mean it stands by a stump for them to get on?

Yeah someone just enlightened me on what it means.....I don't think someone would be advertising it like that if that's what they meant. I hope they mean he stands by a stump as if it were a mounting block, too. Ick.

Stella, LOL! I looked it up out of curiousity, and got many with the naughty description, but it sounds as though the 'general' meaning is a horse that will stand near a stump or ditch so the rider can get on.

Glad I didn't google stump broke instead of asking here then. Does that get them into search engines if they knew how it could be interpreted?

Hope they meant it that way anyhow. You never know anymore do ya? Cute mare but I like yours better.

I would have said "farm broke" considering that it's pointed out that you don't need to kick or use spurs or anything.

I think that stump broke means that she will sidle up to a stump out on the trail so that you can mount her. Handy training for those of us that are low to the ground with our stirrups high off the ground!

Um, am I the only one that finds that an unnecessary term? Every single horse/pony that I've owned/leased/ridden - from basic riding/breaking out - has been "stump broke".... and jump broke.... and fence broke.... and upside down water bucket broke.... and leg-up broke..... and jumping on bareback from the ground broke.
