hmm, pay someone to do it for you? I could never get braiding down well, but I could band a mane in about 15 minutes.

How about soaking in some linament or maybe Ben Gay type stuff?

Sore No More. Some for the pony, some for Mom. A little more for pony, a lot more for Mom.... I am SO glad I have Friesians now! I was a perfectionist that's all thumbs, how's that for living hell? It would take me two to two and a half hours to turn out 36-40 perfect little uniform soldier-like braids. Yeesh, that was tough! In addition to the Sore No More have a glass of wine or a nice cold beer ready when you're done. You Will Be Crabby.

Kit, I was actually doing it for someone else (and did Frodo too). I thought about linament, but didn't want to smell that way. We are in a parade today and I didn't' want to scare the children . MA, do you know if Tractor Supply sells Sore No More? I counted, and I did 44 braids between two horses. I have never braided a mane like you are talking about, and I was at least braiding long pieces of hair. What I did was wet and braid the manes, tails and forelocks of my horse and my friend's Perch. We are in a parade today and I thought they'd look purty with curly do's. Frodo has such a thick mane, I am actually going to mane roll half of it and leave the other half lay (maybe ... it looks good in my head anyway ... if I get it partway done and it looks goofy, I'll just leave his mane down). Sore No More will be on my next horsey-shopping list, as we are doing a handful of parades this summer. Thanks ladies, I knew you would have answers!

Yep the arnica(sore no more) will work on those sore fingers, but not if you have broken skin.... I am so glad that I don't have to braid....I am NOT a perfectionist and well my braids always turned out rather..umm...interesting.

Try oiling your fingers with hair oil while braiding
