Delicious!!! I've never been that big of a fan of angel food cake-it's too chewy, too hard to cut with my fork, etc. etc. etc., but while I was grocery shopping Friday, I was trying to think of not-so-sinful sweets that I can treat my husband too (and of course me! ;D) Then I remembered so many people saying that angel food cake is the cake to have since it's not so bad for dieters. So I bought a pilsbury mix, ground up some frozen strawberries (and added a bit of sugar to that ) and last night for dessert we had cake topped with strawberry puree and a dollup of cool whip. MMM mmm Mmm!!!! Although next time I'll put my strawberry mix in a bowl and tear up chunks of cake to dip it in. I didn't feel weighted down when I was done eating it, either! Hubby complained that he's not a fan of "angel cake" so I told him not to eat it.

I was wondering about your "ground up strawberries" on yesterday's post. I really LOVE angel food cake. When I was a teenager I would eat big hunks of it at a time. Now I like it with strawberries (fresh, quartered w/ a bit of sugar). I hardly ever eat it because of the sugar, but it is low fat - I need to remember it as an option for a treat.
What I REALLY love is strawberry shortcake - one year for my birthday we (mostly friends) made real, homemade shortcake and I even whipped the cream myself. Made some butter accidently first. Maybe I'll make that a goal for during the summer.

I LOFF strawberry shortcake as well, though I prefer it with real short cake instead of angel food...and when Snaffle makes it, she chops up some strawberries, and blends some others with a bit of water and some sugar to make strawberry soup as the topping. So basically I took that idea except I didn't feel like chopping some of them, so I ground them all with some water added. I figure with what I was losing in fat, that bit of sugar wouldn't be the end of the world And it certainly satisfied my craving

oh boy does that sound good!!!
so dh doesnt care for angel food cake.. give him time... you dad didnt 'care' for desserts... well that all changed!!!
I like to take some of my strawberries... add some water and toss them in the blender!!! then put the whole strawberries in...
this year instead of sugar in the strawberries.. I am going to use stevia... the natural sweetener and it has NO calories!!!
(the good thing about spouses NOT liking your favorite foods.. is that there is more for YOU!) ;D
