I am pulling out the notebook and starting my food diary again. I have GOT to get motivated and disciplined. I need to drop almost 20 pounds before spring comes. I know I know.. some of you are thinking.. ONLY 20 punds.. give me a break!! It doesnt matter if someone has 5 pounds or 105 pounds to loose. It is still just as difficult. It still takes discipline and motivation AND it still affects our self esteem!!! I only have one pair of jeans I can wear right now.. (a handme down from Cherokee) I refuse to buy any more jeans.. I must have 15 pair in the closet of the CORRECT size for me! I weighed this morning.. and today I will start recording what goes in my mouth!!! Writing it down is one of the only methods that works for me. I tend to forget what I have already chowed down on... If I have a gain, I can look at the food diary and see what it was that I ate that I should NOT have eaten. If I go through a spell of not loosing, I can look at the diary and often figure out what it is that I have been eating that is causing me to hold the weight. (one year it was the apple every day!) ok here goes.. wish me luck. I have the will power.. just dont have the discipline!!! There is no candy in the house.. no baked stuff... (that is baked) ... no pop... no sugary snacks... lots of vegies... chicken... some seafood...

I have faith I lack the discipline as well. Plenty of will power for me too. 20 may not be that much, but it's just as tough! I started a food journal for the first time in my life. It's interesting. I even put any cheats in it because if I don't I'm only cheating myself. So far it's just paper with foods written on it but I'm hopeful it will be handy in helping the discipline I need. Oh and my wonderful husband should be ordering a case of grouper for me...I think I'll call and remind him before lunch. Your seafood stock just reminded me. Good luck! Lisa

Snaffle, no matter HOW much a person has to lose, you are right, it causes lower confidence, etc.
Great job!

Oooh Snaffle, Chris has made me a FitDay junkie! It helps you keep track of every little bite and morsel, and it calculates your percentages of protein, fats, and carbs too! It has a little pie chart so you can see how you're doing at any point during the day. There's also an exercise thing so you can see what you're burning off doing various activities (including riding and 'farmwork' ) and you can journal there too, if you like. And it's FREE! You can do this. I can do this. We've done it before and we lived. Me, I have thirty to lose. *sigh*

20 pounds before spring comes is a VERY ambitious goal in my book - isn't spring like 8 weeks away? I also agree that pretty much any amount of weight is hard to lose and keep off and requires the same focus and persistence. You can do it! I think journaling food really helps since I will tend to forget what I have eaten OR eat things that aren't substantial enough and wonder why I am hungry!
