I decided I wanted to be better about meal planning in the new year. So I went shopping and bought the prettiest week by week calendar I could find. It has lots of pretty pictures of landscapes and animals, and for me was actually preferable to a horse one (I've done those for YEARS). Anyway, this special calendar is just for planning meals. I write down sample menus each day, and even put up a little note on the preceeding day to thaw certain things. I use it with my grocery list and plan ahead, and then I don't ever have to face an evening where I'm wondering just what's for dinner. That way everything can be healthy and prepared in advance without any last minute panic. I also make sure appointments are on it so if I need to be someplace, I can have something waiting in the crockpot. I really like doing it this way. I strain my brain once, make my menus and my grocery list, and then sit back and enjoy. And I also have a few emergency meals that can be prepared at the last minute in case something stoopid happens and my plans are interrupted. I loff my meal planner calendar.

Thats a great idea! Then I won't be stuck putting in those frozen chicken cordon blues and fries when I'm at a loss. I'm going to start this right away!
