Still not doing much. I did sweep kitchen, dining room, hall, bedroom & part of living room yesterday evening.
This morning I've done shopping in two stores - I'm having my "birthday party" tonight and was getting extra stuff for that as well as "more than normal" groceries since I'm cooking more now. I'm about to go out to empty & re-fill 6 water tubs.

So, what are you doing today? Did the TaeBo again this morning. My kids joined in. Had a blast. More fun with more than one, especially when my 13 year old son is yelling, come on mom, you can do it! Daughter did it yesterday, and today. She had to stop a lot yesterday. Made it through the whole thing today. I have learned that modification is the key. Can't do the movements in double time? Who cares? Do it at your pace, keep it challenging, but don't overface.

Yesterday I went on a really long walk. I actually lost track of time and was out for over 2 hours! I took Don off farm for ground driving. He has never shown any evidence of being herdbound, but he kept doing the pony thing of looking for opportunities to make a sharp turn back to the farm. I just made it a long slow walking session, back and forth and all around - down the road, onto the little "trails", back down the road some more, just everywhere until he was not longer "sticky" about wanting to head for the farm. Nice and easy, practicing patience and stopping and waiting. We passed by the farm driveway several times, and just did a lot of quiet walking. It was slower then my normal walking pace, but I felt the workout in the end because we did a little bit of jogging too. The farm has a long driveway, and they are on a deadend road, but yesterday had a lot of traffic - mostly people coming and going to our barn. Probably 6 cars passed us, which was great because he has never been driven on a road. He was very mellow about it.
I don't really have a proper harness for anything out of the arena yet, which has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We are doing lots of ground driving and I am discovering that Don needs lots of work outside the arena, he isn't terrible, just needs more hours. He was trained to be a driving show horse. I want to find out what that exactly means in the AMHA breed ring because while he looks very nice under harness, good impulsion, collects well, handsome headset etc., he seems to have little training in staying stopped, dealing with farm gates etc. He gets nervous if the footing is the least bit sketchy and hasn't been trained to cross water. You know, the practical stuff that pleasure horses need to know. I want to be able to go anywhere, whether we have other horses or not, and we just need hours to build that confidence. It is actually very fun to do this work with him, and the time just passes so quickly I don't even realize how hard I am working!
I am looking forward to drier ground, a new harness and the other mini drivers to start the driving season again and I think we are going to have a lot of fun running around the place. Right now, I feel like I am out walking my "yak"....lol. I do get the looks and people stopping to talk to us!

does unloading and stacking 40 bales of hay by myself constitute "moving" or weight lifting?

Sure, why not?

I don't mean to sound sexist, but heavy lifting is one of about 3 good reasons She made men.
I think I would count it as aerobic if it got me out of breath; weights if it made my muscles tired.

Woke up and did Baron Intro to Power Yoga today. It is getting easier!
Later, after daughter is at school, I will do 45 minutes on the treadmill.
Throughout the day, I stick in push ups and squats whenever.

Still haven't gotten near enough exercise in. I did park on the 2nd floor today - pushed the button to the elevator and then remembered to walk down the stairs. Tonight is my riding lesson, so probably won't get much more exercise than carrying 100# of feed (2 bags - separate trips) about 50' and then riding at the lesson.

Riding is pretty good excercise. Trotting is like jogging for calories burned and cantering was higher when a dietician spoke at our endurance convention last year. That didn't seem right except those canters that one is trying to slow down and the horse is excited and wanting to speed up but all riding uses the big core muscles in our trunks so it really does burn a lot of calories even though we don't get winded.

I am trying to prepare myself for my fitness challenge which starts next Monday - I "think" and I truly use that word lightly because obviously I am off my rocker to be contemplating this, that I am now going for at least 7 of the 10 challenges.....I have 8 weeks to complete 35 miles on the elliptical, 50 miles on the treadmill, 34 hours of workout in the gym, body fat reduction, 2,800 flights on the stairstepper, 450 sets of core exercises and I am drawing a total blank on the 7th one at the moment. My husband just shook his head at me when I finally signed up Friday night.
So this a.m. I did 45 minutes or 3.67 miles on the elliptical, 15 minutes or 52 flights on the stair stepper, only about 10 minutes on the treadmill but I pushed it up to the 11th level at 3.2 mph to equate to a bit of a longer walk and 10 sets or 100 crunches. Tomorrow I will cut back on the elliptical and increase the treadmill. I think I am getting addicted to the gym. It will be interested to be measured for body fat next week to compare to my beginning numbers of March '06.

TaeBo again this morning...but tomorrow! Well my Slim in 6 is finally here, woo hoo!!!
I'll post results before and after. I am too excited about the program. Beachbody has some really, really fantastic workout DVD's.
They are realistic, no magic pill. Just good eating, kick butt exercise, and you get results.
I'll keep you posted!

Slim in 6 Start it Up (SIU) this morning.
I could keep up for the most part. But, I am tired. Not the sore tired, the feel like a noodle tired, LOL.
Did slim and limber after that, because I think the stretching is great.
I'll stroll on the treadmill, since SIU is only 25 minutes or so.
I like to get in at least an hour a day of whatever.
