I finally got disgusted with my island, actually chain of islands, so I have started a diet and waling on my treadmill! It has been a week now, haven't weighed in yet, but I am on the right track, and I know Tad will appreciate it! Also, I hope it will help my back that has been in pain too.
So, onward and downward (on the scale) I hope!!

wooHoo! Me too. Had enough. I actually started not even wanting to look at food after christmas, especially sweets. hing Been using my indoor exercise machines since it's too icy to do anything outside.

Ohh yeah its that time of year. Although I have been doing my workout outside in the barn getting ready to haul some more hay in and trying to make it so it doesn't blow rain in on it again. I am so tired of having to tarp hay INSIDE the barn. So I covered the 2 feet of open section with tarps. At least until next spring or early summer when I will be putting some of that clear plastic stuff up. I'm down to 2 1/2 bales...but couldn't take the horse trailer to go get any since it was locked in with hubby's van, he moved it today so I'm good to go.

Ok, let this serve as an official, public notice... I am jumping on the bandwagon! Count me in.
Been talking to Tee and she is all excited with how much she has lost. She has lost about 40 lbs or more since I first got to know her, and she now weighs about the same as me. And if I don't get my butt moving... she is going to weigh less! Not that that is bad for her.... ;D
I am going to turn 40 this September and am not much looking forward to it. I have been well over 200 lbs for close to 18 years now. I had been down to as low as 199 but have crept back to about 212 or so. Last summer I dropped 30 lbs and it felt great, but have put half of it back on. I know how majorly excited and pumped up I was to see 199, even if it was only for a few days. I want it back!!!
So, with all the support here, Tee as motivation, and the big 40 looming... I am going to get rid of this spare tire around my tummy once and for all. I DO NOT want to spend the second half of my life a fat frump like I did the first half....
I want to be to 150 by my birthday. There.... Lets see, that is about 62 to loose, with 33 weeks (if I counted right) to go till then. That makes for about 1.8 pounds a week, less than the recommended 2 a week. Hummm, that sounds like a dooable goal. Yep... I CAN DO THIS!!!!
There, I have witnesses. Who is with me? Misery loves company, so they say! Climb aboard!

I'm in!! I lost over 40# a few years ago, but it all came back after I began fast food mystery shopping, changed to a more stressful position at work and got a concussion from a fall. That was the first time I ever REALLY dieted although I played with it a bit a couple of times before and after that.
Time to get my act back together again. I started at 199# last time. Since my big loss, I gained back up to ~ 202, but am now ~ 198 (was 197 yesterday, but up this morning).
I don't try to start New Year's resolutions on Jan 1 any more. The first couple of weeks of Jan are the most stressful weeks of the year at work and there is no way I could ever be succesful making changes at that time. I decided last week that my new year will start tomorrow. That gives me exactly 50 weeks.
I'm doing goals instead of resolutions. I know what I want things to be like in 50 weeks and I'm doing "baby steps" to get there. For instance, one of my biggest problems with keeping my house in order is that I have bad habits and not good ones. Instead of deciding that as of today I will no longer track as much dirt in, I will no longer leave clothes on the boxes at the foot of the bed or on the floor, I will keep the kitchen clean, I will put things away when I'm done with them, etc, etc - I am choosing one focus for each of my "sub-goals" per week. In the "learn new habits to help keep the house in order" (my list is at home, so I might not have it exactly right) category, this week I will buy another pair of easy to slip on walking shoes. Next week I will change shoes each time I go out back, etc, etc.
Anyway, my goal for this year that I made last week was to get down to 160#. I'm debating changing that to 165#.

Dorothy - your post reminded me of how Benjamin Franklin decided to make improvments in his life. www.flamebright.com/PTPages/Benjamin.asp I doubt that he got any of them perfect, but I guess that's how goals work, one just keeps striving Like you, he even picked one at a time to focus on. eta - oh yeah, I'm in, too ;D

Wow! I will have to re-read his at home tonight. I have a spreadsheet, but not "daily" because there weren't enough columns - just weekly.

Dorothy, when you fast food mystery shop, is it more for the service, or the quality of the food, or both?
Wondering if you have to eat it, or eat it all? Can you just have a bite or two and do your report? Or no?

No, I don't HAVE to eat it all. Only have to taste to determine quality, freshness, etc - but, of course, I ate it ALL! After all, I'm not going to throw away free food (although my mind knows that it is better to throw it away sometimes). I don't do any mystery shopping except Mr Gatti's any more - my income jumped me to the next tax bracket and I didn't have the time to do it well. Mr G's is easy - call my local pizza place and have them deliver it. Form takes maybe 10 minutes and I don't even have to fax or mail anything. A couple of months later I get a check in the mail. Of course, it doesn't really pay anything - $15 out of which I pay for pizza and tip - but it is free pizza.

I was not sure how it worked, was just curious. We had a Mr Gatti here at one time. It was the most disgusting restaurant to step foot in, LOL. Kinda curbed the appetite. It's no longer open.
