I'll let you know how it tastes. Made it to go with dinner for my son tonight.
Open Faced Apple Pie
1 cup corn syrup 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 2 eggs beaten 3 tbsp sugar 1/2 cup butter 3 tbsp flour 1 recipe pie crust for a single crust, 9" 3 cups chopped apples.
1. Cook corn syrup, sugar, butter and flour until the mixture coats a spoon. It seemed to me to be about a minute of boiling. Beat eggs vanilla.
2. Chop apples and put in pie shell. Add beaten eggs to corn syrup mixture, stirring well. Pour over apples. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes and then 350 for 30 minutes.
I cheated and used a graham cracker pie crust already made. We'll see how it tastes!

Well, I can't remember Abe's exact words, but he and his buddies devoured it. They thought it was "the bomb". Abe is pretty picky about his food and he thought it was one of the best apple pies I've ever made.
It is pretty darned tasty! And not hard at all to make. I think the graham cracker crust goes really well with it, too.

Chris - I just made your apple pie. I hope it tastes as good as it smells! Can't wait to try it. I made it with a graham cracker crust too... I'll report back on what the family thinks.

They LOVED it!!!! Our youngest son Ben (4) helped me make it with the apples that he picked on his field tript to the apple orchard. So, apples right off the tree within the hour and that great recipe. Yum! Its now filed under "Chris's Apple Pie" in the recipe box.

Well, if they liked that, you'll have to try this one! My son called me up just to tell me how good this was!
Apple Brownies:
2/3 cup butter or margarine 2 cups brown sugar ( could cut it down to 1 3/4 ... it's a bit sweet!) 2 eggs 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup finely chopped raw apple.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Stir well. Stir in apples. Great a 90 x 13" baking pan. Spread batter in. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes. When removed from oven, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
These have the consistency of fudgy brownies. My oven needs the 35 minute time... It should be puffed up with a light crust on top when you remove it from the oven and pulled away slightly from the sides of the pan. When cooled, the crust will have dropped down and the brownies should be moist and fudgy.
