1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it? No - no one requests my cooking. *sniff* But I like to make my Italian Chicken - it's very easy and quite delicious.2. Do you consider yourself a good cook? Honestly, no. I'm a better baker than I am a cook. I WISH I was a good cook, but I'm just...not.3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated? No, I'm good at following directions.4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do? I'd like to learn Greek food. I'd also like to know how to cook some Filipino dishes.5. Do you cook from scratch? Almost always. Occasionally I will cheat and use noodle mixes and soups to make Erich's lunches, because he likes them and they're fast and easy. But I usually try to cook all from scratch. Healthier and cheaper.6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes? Not my husband's dog, that's for darn sure. (He just ate the cat food - again - so he's on my black list - again.) But I may slip my dog a leftover from my plate once in a blue moon. I don't want her getting fat and I know people food's not the best thing for her, but for a special treat, I'm not against it.7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites? Sure - www.meals.com, www.epicurious.com, www.cooks.com.8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook? I cook almost every day. I make enough that there are leftovers, and then cook again the next day for more leftovers...that way I can cook about every 3 days and then have a day off.9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically? Oh...Chicken Dama Bianca from Pasta Fina. Pounded chicken breast in a white brandy sauce - SO good.10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts? Smaller portions of the original.

newfygirl, tabouli is a middle eastern salad made with bulgar, parsley, tomatoes and cucumbers, seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice. Most big grocery stores carry a pretty good tabouli mix you can try. I learned about it when I was in college at Mount Senario in Ladysmith. The cafeteria always had some. I could live on tabouli! chris

Bulgur is wheat. It's kind of like beet pulp for people, lOL. When you add liquid to it, it puffs up, but has a nice chewy texture. Here's a link with even a cartoon, all about bulgur wheat: www.sunnylandmills.com/aboutbulgur.htmlI'll put some tabouli (or tabouleh) recipes in the recipe board. chris

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it?
**I usually bring some dessert, though there's nothing anyone really requests.
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook?
**Well, I'd like to think so since I went to chef school! I was a certified pastry chef for a year but let my certification lapse, since I wasn't working in the business anymore. I'm honestly a better "presentation" person, most of my training was in cake decoration and petit fours, not as much baking and cooking. But I do have some wonderful recipes!
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated?
**No, I don't mind, though I usually find that all the complication isn't needed. When I find a recipe I like, that's complicated, I usually redo the recipe to make it simpler. All my recipes have been "tweaked", but that also comes from chef school. Any good chef knows how to make a recipe his own!
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do?
**I'd like to learn more French food, and also I wish I were in a position to do the centerpiece competitions I used to participate in in school. I have some gold medals for pulled/blown/poured sugar centerpieces. They are SO much fun to make!
5. Do you cook from scratch?
**Whenever I can
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes?
*I have to admit I do sometimes, but only occasionally. I love that my dogs don't beg and aren't fat, so I make it rare enough that they know it won't happen often, and begging won't help!
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites?
*No, I don't! I don't really trust online recipes. I prefer to use ones that people I know have tried.
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook?
**I will cook every day if I have someone to cook for. But for myself, I eat a lot of frozen food!
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically?
**Bread pudding! I can make it, but it's a HASSLE
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts?
**Small portions of the original. I would rather have one spoonful of REAL ice crean=m, than a whole pint of tasteless frozen milk!

3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated? Yes I hate it
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do? I'd love to cook more cajun stuff
5. Do you cook from scratch? If Scratch means you open a box, tear a bag open, or use a can opener, then heck yeah I cook from scratch.
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes? Guilty, yep.....I figure that what they make Dawn detergent and really hot water for.
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites? 30 min meals with Rachael Ray
