1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it? - Fruit Salad - canned fruit cocktail, cream cheese, banana, apple & LOTS of pecans; Pumpkin Pie - frozen shell, dry milk, canned pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, extra cinnamon, either sugar or splenda, egg, can't remember if there is anything else - no evaporated or condensed milk so it is low fat
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook? - NO
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated? - Yes
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do? - Any??
5. Do you cook from scratch? - No
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes? - Sometimes if I can let one without the other knowing
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites? - No
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook? - I mostly eat out or frozen stuff (like breaded chicken with broc & cheese inside); since I have leftovers almost everytime I cook, I don't cook more than one thing at a time
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically? - Eggplant Parmesan
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts? - Large portion of original counterpart; of the choices given, it depends on how good the diet version tastes.

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it? Spanakopita
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook? No. I can follow a recipe.
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated? I don't like cooking anything really.
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do? None.
5. Do you cook from scratch? Sometimes.
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes? Not - not even my cats:).
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites? there is one somewhere but I can't remember why.
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook? Pre-kids we cooked on Sunday night for most of the week. We still do that some, but not too much. Eating out goes in spurts. Sometimes it's very litte and sometimes it's very frequently.
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically? Oh, some of the creamed spinach dishes, especially palak panir (the Indian creamed spinach and curd) - but any reasonable creamed spinach.
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts? I don't know. We eat the low fat or "healthier" versions of most things but I never thought about it as a trade off for quantity.

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it? Big Bowl Casserole.
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook? Yes.
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated? Not at all!
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do? Heirloom Recipes.
5. Do you cook from scratch? Yes.
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes? Only to discourage Preachers! “Uh, this plate seems to not be as clean as it could be.” “I’m sorry preacher, but it’s as clean as Soap and Water can get it.” “Oh, I guess that’s all right.” After the meal, you put your plate on the floor and call the dogs . . . “Here Soap! Here Water!”
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites? Yes!
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook? I prefer to cook myself.
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically? I look for restaurant dishes; I CAN’T do BETTER than at home!
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts? Hands down eating large portions of the diet food! There are no advantages to eating “smaller portions of their original counterparts”. Eat a few dozen boxes of the diet cookies; and you’ll be thin as a rail in no time! GLHR!

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it?
I used to be known as "tabouli girl." I just loff the stuff, but there's no way to make a small amount. I often take it to potlucks at rides. As for family get togethers, I often make Linda's zucchini alfredo or my Greek green beans.
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook?
yes
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated?
No. I like doing that! Cooking is therapy for me.
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do?
Hmmmm... I'm not very good at oriental cookery. That might be fun to learn.
5. Do you cook from scratch?
Usually. John really likes it. He said he doesn't get food like this at his other grandma's house.
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes?
Sure. Then they go in the dishwasher (the dishes, not the dogs) and get sterilized.
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites?
Yes. I've found one for apple stuff. As I'm trying to use up apples from 5 trees. It's come in quite handy!
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook?
Yes, cook in spurts, and then we eat leftovers.
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically?
Can't think of any offhand.
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts?
Oh the real thing! You know there aren't as many fat people per capita in France as there are in the U.S., and they have the richest food. But I heard a French woman explain that she will go into a bakery and get one very good, rich cookie and enjoy every bite. Americans tend to get diet cookies and eat the whole boxful.

Chris, I said earlier that I have some good recipes and I can follow them - I can even modify them a little:). But, I don't have that cooking "knack" that some people have. My husband has it, and he cooks well - he doesnt' have to have a recipe really. That's like my Grandmother and others I've known and I'm just not like that. My 11 yo son cooked your Old Fashioned Apple Cookies yesterday:). I may have to try your Greek green bean.

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it?
Either Oatmeal Cookies, Tabouli or Chocolate Truffles
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook? Decent
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated?
As long as I'm in the mood, the more complicated, the better, but if I'm not in the mood to cook - forget it!
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do?
Really good Japanese - I am okay at it, but there is no place around here to get the right ingredients. I used to be much better at Japanese when I lived in CA.
5. Do you cook from scratch?
YES!
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes?
No!
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites?
Nope, just search for them as I need something
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook?
I love to do really special dinner parties and such, I cook almost every night for my family, but Fridays are generally our night to eat out.
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically?
Teppan Yaki
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts?
I do all REAL food - no lowfat yogurt or sourcream or cheeses - YUCK - doesn't cook up like the real stuff, just everything in moderation.

Finally found this board again! Love the recipe forum!
1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it?
I almost always bring my lasagna, because I always know it will come out good.
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook?
Just moderately okay.. I'm good at baking and following recipes, but I have no creativity when it comes to blending flavors and creating dishes. I have a son who is good at this, though. I love it when he cooks!
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated?
No, I think it's fun!
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do?
I'd like to learn more about French sauces.
5. Do you cook from scratch?
YES!
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes?
Usually spoon food into their own dishes, but DH has been caught letting Bijou polish his plate!
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites?
Not right now. Used to have the Prevention South Beach forum in my favorites.
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook?
Day by day. Never really mastered the cook in big batches thing. We are rather spontaneous, and usually on the rare occasion that I do have a casserole in the freezer, it just doesn't sound appetizing and everyone is in the mood for something else.
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically?
Well, I've put off buying a deep fryer -- because if I had one, we'd probably eat wayyy too many fatty foods. But I'd love to have coconut prawns at my whim!
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts?
Oh, definitely smaller portions of the real thing! Real foods satisfy much better and for longer in smaller quantities. I never buy fat-free anything -- ewwww...the mayonnaise is awful!

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it?
I don't generally go to pot lucks, but at family gatherings I'm famous for deviled eggs, meatloaf, pumpkin pie, and broccoli salad.
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook?
Yes, pretty good.
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated?
Not if I have the time and the ingredients.
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do?
Creole/cajun, or Greek or Indian.
5. Do you cook from scratch?
Almost always, when I get the chance to cook.
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes?
No! Yick. My mom sometimes throws my skillets out to let the dogs lick them when I'm gone to work. (we live in separate households but she stays with my daughter) So gross!! Dog lips!
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites?
I don't have favorites stored on the computer, it is works machine. I do know the address to several cooking sites though and frequent them.
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook?
Spurts, I work so long and have such a long commute that I don't get to cook most nights. I have to snack or throw something together or eat leftovers. 9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically?
I can usually do this just from tasting a dish. But one has me stumped. It is Frankie's cafeteria's Eggplant Casserole. Dorothy B, I make eggplant parmesan sometimes I will post that recipe for you sometime.
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts?
I'm with Wildfire larger portions fo the original. You could tell that if you could see me. LOL

1. When invited to a potluck, is there a dish that people request you make? Or one you tend to bring because you know it'll go well? What is it? I try to avoid potlucks. I'm not really in to trying new foods
2. Do you consider yourself a good cook? No, not at all. I'm getting to where I really hate cooking. But DH and DD say I'm a good cook.
3. Do you mind cooking up food from recipes that are complicated? Yes, because the more complicated it is, the more likely it is that I'll screw it up.
4. What sort of cooking would you like to learn to do? Instant? I'm so tired of cooking!
5. Do you cook from scratch? Only if it's something easy. Again, i'm good at messing things up
6. Do you let your dogs polish your dirty dishes? No. My dogs aren't allowed any amount of table food, plus it makes them slippery in the dish water.
7. Do you have any cooking sites in your favorites? Nope.
8. Do you cook in spurts, like on the weekends for future meals, or do you cook day by day? Or do you eat out/carry in more often than cook? Just when someone is whining that they are hungry.
9. What restaurant dish do you wish you could effortlessly whip up at home, and produce identically? Effortlessly? Anything!
10. Do you prefer to eat larger portions of diet foods, or smaller portions of their original counterparts? You will not find any diet or light foods in this house, unless I bought them accidentally. I don't buy the "you can't tell the difference" because I can tell the difference, and I don't like them!
