My Nephew / Godson gets confirmed on May 14. He will be 15 in July and I have no idea what to get him. I would like to get him something lasting or memorable rather than just giving him cash. I think I gave him a savings bond for his baptism. For my confirmation I got a silver bracelet from my godparents but I don't think a teen boy would like that. From my parents I got my class ring but he ended up being confirmed early because our church is small and they put classes together so he's only in 8th grade and kids don't usually get their class rings until they are sophomores (I was confirmed at the end of my freshman year so I just got my ring a little early).
He is being confirmed in a Lutheran church. The church gives them a bible. My family isn't very religious - go to church and sunday school until you are confirmed and then basically go on holidays until you have kids and have to take them every week.
Josh has a lot of interests but he really isn't "in" to anything. He doesn't play sports. He and his brother have dirt bikes and 4 wheelers and just got 22 rifles for Xmas but I wouldn't call them the outdoorsy type. He doesn't build anything or fix cars. He likes to ride horse with me but I wouldn't say he's a rider. He plays a lot of video games (yuck) and likes to read. I'm totally at a loss. Any ideas? Price range would be up to about $100.

Gosh Jenni, that sounds hard. Maybe you'll have to give him a split present, like a nice bookmark with a verse or quote engraved on it for the lasting part and then a gift cert to Amazon or Barnes and Noble?

Tradition in our family has always been a bible or a hymnal, with the name and date of confirmation added to the front cover in gold.
My sister went one step further. Not only did both our boys get a personalized bible, she also scattered $5 bills throughout the bible, totaling $50........
tidbit: My wedding bouquet was a dozen stems of lily of the valley, ribboned onto a small satin covered bible. The bible was the one MY mom had received for HER confirmation in the mid-30s.........

It’s really tough and tricky to gift teenagers because in their growing time they have mood-swings and it’s really hard to predict what they like and don’t like. Of course so many other issues too. When I was 16 I had my christening at our nearby church. Among so many christening favors, I remember one that I got from my aunty. It was cross design key chain that she got from www.bestpricefavors.com/product-category/all-occasions/baptism-favors-christening-favors-first-communion/. I still have it and love it wearing all the time.
