;D I am proud to anounce a new family member to the Nadler clan. Her name is Jazz and she is a 2 year old schipperkee/american eskimo mix. But she circles just like a sheltie. She weighs about 15 to 20 lbs and is just adorable. Housebroke, is OK with cats and gets the heck out of Mischiefs way. LOL I think Miss has gotten more exercise just from following her around-or trying to. We have been on 3 walks already so I too have had more exercise. She wasn't too sure about the horse and goat, and I will have to keep an eye on her with cars, she does want to chase them-that could be very dangerous. Isn't she cute! Mark has yet to meet her but I took her over to meet my parents and she welcomed my dad back from the store like a long lost friend. Jumped up on my moms lap and gave her big kisses. She is very playful, with lots of energy. Right now she is asleep on the chair next to me. I guess already my velcro dog. LOL I still miss my Tabu but look forward to many adventures with Jazi. Marci

Cute little dog . What is a schipperkee? The American Eskimo really shows through--obviously the black color must come from the OTHER side of the family. Linda

Aww, the first thing I thought when I opened this one is "Marci got a Schipperke!" There's a QH breeder in our area that breeds these too; but they're little. And are they funny! I'm so glad you have a velcro dog again! Especially one that's such a cutie!

Well we have been thru one night and she was wonderful! ;D Slept right on the bed at my feet, and was so good, waited until morning to want to go potty. Her way of waking us? come up to the face and start licking. LOL I think I am going to lose weight as I have been out on 2 walks already and its only 9:30 or so. Cats are still hiding although they came out last night but this morning when I feed them their canned food. (Gizmo is usually the first one to come in and start bugging me when its time to eat) but no cats in sight yet. Jazz could care less hasn't even looked at the kitties. My hubby loves her, Mischeif still isn't sure about this she thinks she has to follow her everywhere and make sure she knows she is boss of the house. Luckily Jazz can fit places that Miss can't LOL. The only time Jazz barks is when someone comes to the door or she hears something. I still have her on a long lead when we go for walks (horse lunge line) so I haven't let her be near the horse too much so far. But Shadow puts her head down to meet her and then lays her ears back. LOL The goat won't get near her. But then Jazz doesn't have much intrest in them either. I hope she will be a good trail dog but if not well thats OK too, Like with my old girls she can stay home when I ride. I have to say this is LOTS easier than a puppy, but she is just as cute. This is my first small dog in almost 30 years. And last night I had to get up and go to the restroom-I swear you know those little bubbles that you see in the photos (people say they are spirits) I saw one about dog height it was white blue and it followed me. It wasn't jazz she was still in bed but I think it was Tabu's spirit. I think she approves. But I still miss her, even though she is here with me in spirit. Oh and a schipperkee is a small black dog that doesn't have a tail. They have long lives, some into their 20's. But she really looks more like a black American Eskimo. She is laying on the floor right next to my chair now, sound asleep. Good dog.

That's so sweet! I'm sure Tabu wouldn't want you to be alone; she'd want you to be surrounded with love, because that's what you gave her. Maybe Tabu brought Jazz to you, because she knew you needed a velcro dog, and if she couldn't be there, she wanted to fill that sad void in your heart.

Boy I wonder if she didn't. I love this little dog I let her off the leash outside for the first time today. What a little speed demon She ran around and around the house then in the horse corral and did scare the horses, been a long time since they saw a dog that can move that fast and is so small. LOL But comes back every time I call her. She does want to chase the horse & goat if they run so maybe she will be able to go riding with us with some training. But to get to the trails we will have to get her (and the horse) used to having her up on top with me. LOL I tried it once before with my old heeler out on a ride when she got tired, and well lets say trying to get 50 lbs of dog up on a horse that doesn't want it and a dog that is not happy is not a workable soulution. But then now there is lots of miles under that horses belt and the dog is tiny. I used to do this with my poodle when I was growing up. It was fun, I really want to be one of those people you see where the dog is riding on the back of the horse, not sure I will get there with this horse but I want to try. LOL.

The "Skip" side of her should be good with horses! They were developed by the Dutch as "barge dogs" - they kept an eye on the cargo and barked if people who didn't belong on the barge came aboard. They were also good ratters/mousers. And they often hung out with the barge horses on the tow-paths, jumping up onto those big rumps and keeping an eye on things from that vantage point. So far as I know, they are always black.
Just a little something from my "trivia bank" ;D Rosalie (former pet adoption counselor!)
