Have you all heard about the BTK serial murder suspect arrested in Wichita??? 10 victims over a 30 year time...
Well, it seems that one of the places he worked was ADT security service! Geesh.... a serial murderer in control of home security systems...
scary...

of Vanity Fair Magazine was a very intersting article on break ins in Beverly Hills and the Westside (were the very rich people live) of LA. What was intersting that those robberies were seemingly inside jobs, well tought out and daring. To this day the perps have not been caught, but everything points to the company that put the security in.

Chris, I've been thinking of you and other Kansans as this BTK thing unfolds. How frightening to have this shadow over all of you for so many years!
I think of how Ted Bundy moved, and took his murdering ways with him. I wonder about that gap in the area; did that guy move for awhile?
About fifteen years ago, there was a brutal murder of a college girl on I-80, just a few miles south of me. It was done by a trucker; she was taken to a truckstop a few miles west of me. No one has ever been charged with her murder. The killer is probably someone who is extremely mobile, and was gone within hours, to who knows where. So frightening.
Another thing that makes me think of. This girl had a cheap car that was a bit of a beater. You usually think of such things for kids this age; if they dent it up, it's not such a loss. But the loss of reliable transportation cost her her life. She was stranded by the side of a busy four lane highway, extremely vulnerable, when her car broke down. And the guy that pulled over to help her was a killer.
At any rate, I'm so glad your killer was caught. What a relief!

This guy was hiding in plain sight the whole time. He never moved around. He lived in the same neighborhood., Went to church, is married, raised two children while this was going on. He was the guy next door.
He was even city administrator for the small town outside Wichita where he lived. Most of his victims were during the years he worked for ADT. Now THAT'S scary! His other victims were people he knew who worked at the same place as he.
All this time, his wife and children had no idea. He was president of his Lutheran church board. Everyone thought he was a real upstanding guy.

I pass thru BTK's town (ParkCity) everyday. The first guy they arested last year was only two blocks from the office.... Worse than security is the fact he worked for the city and gave out citations

I am so glad he was caught. The Green River killer was only recently caught here, he painted houses for a living. Of course his case was a little different, his work didn't seem to tie in with the murders. Ted Bundy was notorious in our area (Seattle area) when I was a kid. It made a big impression on me; polite, good looking guy used his charm and faked all sorts of situations to lure victims in. One of his more famous was to have an arm in a sling and ask a pretty girl for help with loading something in his car.

Tis a crazy world out there. You have to always be aware and, when something doesn't feel right, pay attention to that and get out of there. Linda
