I went shopping with a friend this evening (got a lot of good deals too, all the clothes were on clearance for $5 or less!) and when I came home, the little Shi-tzu was in the kitchen. Steve said he'd been yapping and driving him nuts, so he brought him upstairs. A couple times he said "I think that little dog likes me." LOL! He says he's been praying for someone to claim him, but I think he's secretly hoping that nobody does. He's one of those guys who swears he woudln't care if you got rid of all the animals, then baby talks them when he thinks you're out of earshot. Big tough guy! LOL! Anyways, newspaper comes out on Wednesday. So hopefully if somebody is looking for him they put an ad in the paper. I didn't get a chance to place an ad, but I did post some signs in busy public places in town. I also left a message with the dog warden and talked to the local dog groomer and left my number with him. So if anybody is looking for him, there should be no reason they can't find him. Anyone know if there's any law about how long you need to have possesion of a stray dog before it's yours? I rescued a Chi from some kids a few years ago, his owners found me a week later, and were threatening theft charges, and never reimbursed me for the $95 I spent at the vet's office. I don't want to go through that again!

Sounds like Steve! This morning he even asked Little Man (that's what we'll call him if we get to keep him) if he wanted to ride in the truck. Nevermind that he's not allowed to have animals in his truck, he'd take him if he could! I've got a couple quick errands to run today, so I'm going to see how he likes riding in the car. Monday I'm going to see if the local vet has a microchip scanner. I'm covering all my bases here on trying to find an owner, but we're hoping we don't find them! I'm going to place an ad in next week's paper, too. It was already too late to put a classified as in this week's paper when I found him. He sure is a nice little guy though! I tied his leash to the dresser by my bed last night, and after Steve got up I let him get on the bed. Amazingly, Steve didn't care, and he hates dogs in the bed! So if we don't find his owners, he's for sure got a home here! Even Lucky and Sammi seem to be getting used to him.

Amber, if I ever lose a dog, I hope you're the one who finds him! You're being just wonderful to this little guy, leaving no stone unturned. Bless your heart!

Mary Ann, I'm just doing what I would want someone to do if they found my dog. Although my dogs each have a collar with a slide-on tag with thier name and my number stamped on it, a numbered rabies tag from the vet, and a county dog license. So if they get loose and don't lose thier collars, they will come back as long as an honest person finds them. 3 different ways to find me! I'm also planning to get them microchipped. Horse will be microchipped as well. As much as I like this little guy, I'm SURE somebody has to be missing him. And if my pet were missing, I'd sure want him back! But I still hope that nobody is looking for him and we can keep him, because he sure is a cool dog! Here's a picture I took of him yesterday. Since then he's had a bath and inherited Gizmo's old collar. But it's an elastic collar and keeps catching in his hair, so I'll pick up a cheapie dog collar for him today when I get some food for him. <img src=" www.stableminds.com/home/Amber/shitzu.jpg"> I'll get some better pictures later when the light outside is better.
