My younger sister Linda Marie was diagnosed with breast cancer in late '03. Unfortunately, after all the treatment, masectomy and chemo, it was found to have spread to her bones about 3 months ago. This means it is no longer considered curable, but still treatable. Anyway, she had the 3 month checkup last week and the results were inconclusive. One tumor shrunk, one no longer showed up on the scan but a new one showed up. That is apparently very strange results so they are talking about rescanning her. I am asking for your prayers that the tumors really are shrinking and that the new one was just a mistake or misreading of the scan. If the tumors are shrinking it is a very good indication that the hormone therapy can keep it at bay for hopefully years to come. I pray that the hormone therapy can keep it at bay long enough for even better treatments to become available.
I am very thankful to God that she is "healthy", at least for now, not in pain and living a joyeous life.
I am not in the least bit prepared for her medical condition to deteriorate as I believe she has a lot of life left to live on this Earth.
I work for a medical device company, something I have always felt good about, but have renewed passion for. Just tonight I heard about a new ultrasound technology that is in animal trials to actually "destroy" tumors. I am so excited that there are so many possible treatments in the testing pipeline - more medical breakthroughs will be coming to us all the time.
