I am finally painting the bare sheet rock in my "office". In just a couple of years, this is going to turn into the upstairs bathroom. We have all the plumbing pipes in the wall, the electrical wire run for the whirlpool tub, etc. I did not want to mud and tape the walls because I know--even though we have it all planned and marked out--that the project isn't going to go as well as we expect. I know we are going to have to take the sheet rock off the walls to get to those studs. And when we do the bathroom, it will get some sort of bathroom-appropriate paneling over the sheet rock instead of just paint.
So, I went to town and bought paint to sponge-on the walls. One wall is done--I can't believe the difference. You really have to look to see the exposed screws and seams. They are all pretty well camouflaged. It is going to make a big difference. Of course, moving everything to paint also means that I am going to have to clean my office--not something I am looking forward to at all. But I think the end result will maybe even motivate me to KEEP my office clean.
So, it looks like it is probably going to cost me somewhere around $40 to completely re-do this room. That is almost as good as the "Design on a Dime" and other similiar shows. I already have the carpet squares for the floor. We are going to be uptown very soon! Linda
