We had our first and looks like last meeting with DHR for Katie and Brayden today. Misty's inlaws had hired an attorney and somehow he found some loophole or technicality that pretty much shut DHR down for the time being. They had to let them leave with the kids. I am sitting here now waiting for them to come pick up the kids stuff.
I am just so frustrated, they wouldn't tell us anything. Those babies are going right back into the same mess and danger that they were in. Somebody please wake me up from this nightmare.

Oh Tricia, what a tragedy. It seems like the little ones always get hurt in legal loopholes. They may as well be called legal nooses. I'm so sorry! This is heartbreaking. But it does not diminish all you did for them. I just wish you'd had a chance to do more. They needed you, your stability, and your safe and loving arms. Maybe this isn't the end of it.

Oh NO, Tricia. I'm so sorry.... can you guys get a lawyer and fight this? What is the loophole?
OMG, I can't even imagine what you are going through right now...
For a while, you gave those toddlers some stability and love. you planted a seed in them and they will remember it.
Take a deep breath and turn it over to God. My guess is that those babies will come back to you.

I can't even imagine those poor kids! What kind of live will they have with people that have not the slightest common sense. Do you have any recourse? Sadly I have seen this before and have long lost all faith in the law, mainly when O.J. Simson got costudy of the children who's Mother he murdered.

For a system--no matter what the state--that is suppose to protect the kids, somehow it never seems to get the job done right.
What a horrible thing for you to be dealing with. Linda

If ya'll get tired of hearing about this, just let me know. Somehow it helps me to get it off of my chest. Anyway, I just spoke to the case worker and she said that her supervisor had spoken with their lawyer late yesterday and that DHR offered their services to Misty and the lawyer indicated that the services would be welcomed, but that DHR could NOT contact Misty first. He told them basically, "don't call us, we'll call you". What a load of BS! They'll NEVER call because this way, they have WON without having to do a single thing. If DHR contacts them first, they could be sued for harassment. How is that somehow the kids have been completely forgotten in this mess? The case worker told me that basically, their and my hands are tied. The only thing I can do is to continue to wait them out and report them when the inevitable happens again. Until then, Katie and Bray will be back in that world where mommy locks you in your bedroom with a bag of cookies and a sippee of milk while she goes off to get high.
