this is the show ground of the busiest horse show in SoCal in Spring. 10 rings, 6 weeks! This pic was taken Superbowl Sunday at 3:00pm the place was deserted, two hours before one had to dodge horses ridden, horses led, scooters, golf carts, bicycles and mopeds. - DH picked me up and we went for a nice drive and dinner. No, he does not watch football - ever, LOL..

That's amazing! Looks beautiful, even without the horses and commotion. So all in all, was it a good trip? Did you have a good time watching the show(s)? Anything you wanted to take home? You two look like you're having a wonderful time!

I fell in love with a Seattle Slew filly a couple of years ago and Brooks said if I ever buy anything Seattle Slew she will chop my hands off, because they are so nasty, LOL. Well this peach of a Seattle Slew gelding stole my heart, but he was the wrong sex, I have no room in my inn and like to keep my hands. It was a very hectic show mainly because we we were short handed. I fell in my bed at 8:00pm - guess age is rearing its head.. I thought of you, seriously, my friend asked me to give a lesson to this 12 year old girl. I can't count how many times I had to asked myself 'what would Mary-Ann do". I really wanted some of your patience and grace. The kid (!) was a spoiled Yuppie spawn with a ready made horse that I am sure the parents (think Barbie and Mr.CEO) paid a Kings ransom for. This kid keeps on whailing at me, "whhaaa, it hurts, whaaa I can't do that". I told her calmly she can and she will, her parents pay $300 a day in entree fees and she has to get serious or go home. Then she goes to Mommy and tells her I am soooo mean.... Well duuh, I remember my 'mean' trainers, those are the people I actually learned something from, the people that forced me to challenge myself. All in all I see more of this level at big A shows then in my days and with it the quality of riding has gone down. Where is George (Morris) when we need him, LOL..... That man shred me to pieces, I never fogot it! I have actually dismounted being all alone in my arena and put my straps in the keepers when they were out this is the impact he had on me.

LOL! I'm so flattered that you'd think of me. I have patience with beginner horses, but not with beginner riders. I give them to Joye. She's amazing. I'd be with you. I'd want to slap that kid off the horse, but then I'd want to get in Barbie's face and ask her just who wants to be here, her and her status seeking, social climbing self, or her kid? Maybe the kid just wants to play with a sweet natured thousand dollar dink back home in a pasture, and not work so hard. In my book, those sorts of shows are earned with talent and hard work, not $$$. Actually, I'd be much more tactful than that, but that sort of clash between purpose and skill makes my skin crawl. I would have been 'mean' too, to everyone. Were you at least warm? Nobody's warm here.

Warm depends where you come from. Everybody from SoCal or the desert states like Nevada and Arizona strutted around in their Barbour barn coats. It was windy after all and did not get higher then 62F, perfectly bone chilling temps when the wind blows! At night it was 48F which made me wear my flannels. What is really funny, we can always tell who comes from places like Canada, Michigan,or other cold states. We have this astonished mutual staring for the first couple of days. They look at us askance in our coats and we shake our heads because all of them wear short sleeves and most of them wear shorts unless they ride.

Oh, I love the tales of your travels!
LOL, 62 would be wonderful! This time of year, it would be deliciously delightful!~
I'll never forget when I lived in northern Wisconsin, where they got frost sometimes in late August...
The college I went to recruited a lot of football players from Florida. Those poor boys started wearing their parkas in September, LOL...and were always shocked and amazed when the temps dropped below zero for weeks on end!
