Other than being over two hours behind schedule, my surgery went very well. The doc was pleased. She did have to take out my left ovary, which sure surprised me, because the *right* one was the one that was bothering me! She said it might've had a cyst that burst, but the big cyst was on my left. It also had a lot of endometriosis, and she told DH that it was three times normal size. Today, I HURT! I am very sore in my abdomen, and my throat hurts from the breathing tube I had during surgery. I have three incisions, about 1/2" each...one in my navel, and the other two inside each hipbone. No stitches, she used some kind of medical super glue stuff that will wear off on its own. That should be interesting, hope it makes the scarring minimal. Just wanted to update y'all. I'm going to get my pain meds and lay down again. I'm just so relieved it's over now! Kel

Wow Kel, what an ordeal! Glad it's behind you now! I have a question, though. My understanding of endometriosis is that it's an inflammation of the endometrium, or the lining of the uterus. If I'm correct in that understanding, how could endometriosis be in the ovary? Regardless, I'm glad you're on your way back!

Oh Kel, when you get back online, hope you're feeling better. I've had female surgery too... I know it hurts like heck... rest up and take it easy girl.

Mary Ann, this is what I found: Endometriosis is characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or other abnormal sites, causing pain or infertility. My doc even said it could "grow" on the bowels (in which case she would've left it alone). I will get more specific info when I talk to her in two weeks. DH was a little confused by what she told him...he's not familiar enough with all this woman talk I didn't get to talk to her after surgery because she was already two hours behind when I went in, mine took longer than expected, and there was still a patient after me. :-(

Wow, that's remarkable, Kel! I had no idea. I look forward to hearing more explanation when you get a chance to talk to your doctor. I'm sure glad you're bouncing back! I've missed you!

Congratulations and feel better soon! When this is all healed (probably 6-8 weeks?) you'll wonder why you put up with the pain for so long! Take it easy, read/watch horsey stuff, and make plans for when you can get back in the saddle. ;D Rosalie

Kel, I'm so glad you're okay! I had gallbladder surgery in December, and my first thought when I woke up was, "I'M ALIVE!! Thank you God!" LOL
Rest and drink lots of fluids. Hope you heal soon!
