I met MaryAnn elsewhere and know several others here from other boards also. She told me about this board and invited me to stop by and say "hi" to everyone so I thought I would. I have two quarter horses, but it seems that farm improvement and maintenance take too much of my spare time. I'd like to get a tb in the very near future and am interested in doing a little cross country jumping. I'm a "board veteran" and am pretty careful to only go to peaceful places:).

Woohoo!!! You made it over! I'm so pleased! What kind of stuff do you do with your QHs? I have a couple myself. This is a very peaceful and respectful place, with some of the best people on the net. I'm so glad you decided to join us!

Thanks for the welcome. I now see there is a thread on the horse related board for introductions but didn't see it before. I don't do a lot with my horses, really, because of time constraints. I ride my gelding and my kids and I ride my mare. I grew up showing western pleasure and what's now called western riding with a little more emphasis on reining. I'd like to work with my gelding for reining or do some amature cutting. He's big for the cutting, but he has the right attitude and agility - Iwouldn't really pursue cutting seriously, but it's fun to do. Otherwise, I just ride around.

I don't have such severe time constraints, but I do have weather restraints, but I still enjoy feeding and cleaning up after them. Summer gives me more time constraints, and I find my own horses on the sidelines while I ride other people's, but this year I'm hoping will be lighter. I'll still enjoy my chores, though, a whole lot more in summer than in winter. Reining sure looks like fun! I have a couple of friends and acquaintances that do reining. I'm afraid it's out of my price range, though. I can't believe what a practice horse costs, let alone a competitive one! I'm glad you've joined us! ;D

Welcome, Coyote! Glad you're here! I'm Halcyon - I have an Arabian mare named Summer who I love dearly but am selling because she and I are just not a match physically. I'm interested in doing dressage with my next horse. I have a mentally abusive father, a wonderful husband, and two gorgeous kids. You'll see me posting about all of the above at one time or another.

Hi KarenN:) Thanks. How is Cocoa doing? Thanks Sheryl and Blue Mouse (where did that name come from? . I look forward to knowing you better:) MaryAnn I've wanted to ask you this for a long time. Did you show a mule at the National Western Stock show in Denver a few years ago? or am I confused?

LOL! No, that wasn't me. I've only ridden a mule once, when guy insisted that his mule was as smooth as my horse and went as nice. Well, her back was locked down and she steered like a barge. But whatever. She was a white mule, named Elvira. ;D Must have me confused with somebody else. I hope they were nice, and left a good impression!

Coyote, I go by PeriwinkleBlue on some boards, and Mouse on others. I prefer the Periwinkle moniker, but the people here know me as Mouse. So when I came here, I decided to incorporate the two.

Coyote, I go by Mary Ann on some boards, and Mary Ann on others. This is because I lack Mouse's good imagination. Next time I go to a new board, I think I'll ask her to invent a board name for me.

Thanks Mary Ann for straightening me out about the mule showing:). I don't know who that was, but it was a long time ago, and the woman did leave a good impression:) I think her name was Mary Anne (but I thought it had an "e"). Of course it could have been something completely different:). "Mary Ann" is a good screen name:) You could have come up with something dumb like "Coyote". It was supposed to just be a temporary name - 8 years ago. LOL BlueMouse. Thanks for the explanation. I've seen the name "Mouse" on occasion as I lurk just a little at Stable Minds.

Let's not go into the whole "original board name thing!" LOL I never was able to come up with ANYTHING.
Thanks, Coyote, for asking about Cocoa.... I guess everyone deserves an update. She has regained the sight in her good eye at least for the time being. It was evidently a trauma to that eye totally unrelated to the glaucoma. The trauma cleared up fine, but it did alert us to the underlying problem. No one really seems to know how fast or how slowly the other will progress. Right now we are taking it one day at a time. She sure is a little trooper.

Karen, I'm so glad to hear this! Cocoa seems like such a little sweetheart; don'tcha just want to hug her? Here's hoping she stays stable.
