I like the Boston area just fine, but it was very snowy and cold. (Come to think of it, i have only been there once when it WASN'T snowy and cold). The there was long due to weather problems so I seemed to have never caught up on my sleep from that first night. On the way home, we had to leave the hotel so early (5am EST; which to my body clock is 2am) that i was just exhausted yesterday. This trip made me much tireder then most do, must be getting old.\ Anyway, did get a ride in yesterday afternoon which helped shake the groggy dulldrums. Ruby was full of energy since she had so many days off. She did pretty well, but my goal is to some day have a horse that rides the same regardless of if it has been a day or a week since the last ride. Too much to ask?

Not too much to ask. Some horses can do it; others can't. And a lot depends on the utter consistency of your training time together. Can you do exactly the same on a given day, and then be able to do the very same way several months later? some people can do it, others can't. I used to ask hubby how he always drew trips to Buffalo in the dead of winter, or trips to Orlando in August. Boston in winter is right up there, isn't it? Oh well; at least you're back home safely!

Sheryl,
I lived in Pawtucket RI for one winter.. yuck! Nasty weather!
And as Mary Ann said, some horses do fine with time off, others don't.
Zab and Ali don't need much refresher when they've had a lay up... Just get on and ride.
Star, OTOH, is a PITA after time off! He's a wacko horse in the spring and a pretty nice ride in the fall, LOL...
