RATS. My digi camera broke!

I'm so bummed! You don't realize how much you use one of those things until it's not working!

I downloaded some photos tonight of stuff I want to put on Ebay. Then I went to take more pictures and the lens broke. It has a zoom lens that must come out before you can take pictures. The motor just makes an awful sound and the lens won't come out...

Has anyone had this happen? Is it fixable?

oh no! That doesn't sound good.
I have no idea, but I'm betting it's fixable. I know what you mean. I'd be lost w/o my camera. I don't even use a regualar one anymore.

Well, maybe this'd be an excuse to get one you really covet? I like my little digital; it has a lot of kewl features, but Doc has one that just makes me drool. It can take a picture of the hairs up your nose from fifty feet away! It's a pretty serious camera, and while I don't think I need exactly that, I'd like one with the capability of taking my regular lenses.

The part that makes me all goosey is changing software. Hubby says it's no biggie, but it scares me.

I hope you get yours fixed, Chris, or you get a new one if it's what you want!

The problem is, I have no money to replace it. But it is the "company" camera and belongs to the association I work for. As luck would have it, we have some money left over from a grant that we need to spend. I hope I can get the board to go for a new camera with the extra funds.

This probably not what you want, but I just saw a Samsung digital camcorder for $169 at Aldies. Yup, Aldies! I don't really need one, but I'm thinking about going back and getting it any way!
