Part-boarder wanted for a 17 yr old Appaloosa/TB 15.2hh gelding. Does English and Western pleasure. Boarded on Townline at Spirit Hills. Sand ring, grass ring and trails on property. Freckles is well trained but does need an experenced rider. Ladies prefered. You ride 2-3 times a week for $125 plus stall cleaned the days you ride.

Is that $125 per week or per month? When I read it it sounds like per week. I might want to see more detail on why he needs experienced rider. Is it just because he is picky about the way someone rides, does he have lots of get up and go, or can he sometimes be naughty. Anytime I see "needs experienced rider" without further details in an ad I assume the horse has some bad habits.

Ok thank-you I'll try to re-word it. It's $125 a month. He needs an experenced rider as he needs light but steady hands. He does have a bit of a get up and go. He is a little spookish but not bad as long as your on top of it and don't surprise him. He doesn't do anything to be mean or hurt you. He doesn't like many men thats why I put ladies prefered.

Are you saying the leaser cleans stalls? Instead of saying "stalls cleaned the days you ride" which makes it look like someone else does it, say something like "Plus you clean his stall the day you ride".

Shoot, *I* wanna half-lease him!

Ah, regional. How about: You ride and clean his stall 2-3 days per week.
And again: prefered should be preferred, experenced should be experienced

I like how Jamie wrote it, although in our area it's called share boarding. Lots of people share board at more expensive barns, so both can have the riding experience without as much financial or time commitment.

One caution though. Just about everybody thinks they have good hands, so check it out for yourself. You have the right to decline anyone coming at you, and you owe it to your horse if the person is less of a rider than he needs.

Oh trust me if they don't have good hands Freckles WILL let them know very quickly. This will be my second part-boarder for Freckles and we had a couple for Wood. I have a contract somke place I have to dig it out again.

I always watch anybody who gets up on Freckles carefully and read his signs on how he likes them and of course how they ride but again Freckles is the best judge, he does not put up with sloppy, crap or mean behaviour at all.
