AKC is adding a new level to our regular Masters standard & jumpers class. It's still pretty new, so no titles available yet, but it has more challenges than regular courses. I started putting Frankie in it, because she is doing so well. This was our standard premiere class a couple weeks ago. When my friend handed my camera back to me, he said 'she made that look easy' I don't take Rosie in premiere because she can't/won't do some of the tight turns, where Frankie's nickname is Gumby.

AND, it won't be long before Miss Rikki is ready to compete. We got stuck on her learning the weave poles for a while, but my instructor had a summer camp last month and we took a weave session with one of her assistants and got some other ideas for getting her going and they worked great! She is 100% different than Frankie & Rosie (and most other dogs) to train, so we have to come up with some alternate idea for her sometimes.

It really is pretty easy. The hardest part for me is remember the names of some of the turns. Our instructor will say "do a German Turn after the 3rd jump" and I can't remember what a German turn is. Once she explains it, or someone else does it, I'm like OK! Got it. And, a minor brag... Last month a guy that runs a really nice Border Collie, and his wife approached me and told me how well I handled my dogs. This at the trail this video was taken, one of my class mates overheard some people in the stands saying how smooth I handled my dogs. That's always cool to hear. But, I gotta give a lot of the credit to Frankie. She is such an awesome dog, and SO easy to train. She just GETS it. And, unlike most dogs, and horses too, she actually performs BETTER at trials than she does in class. Rosie is fun to run, but can be scary. She's big, and a Terrier. LOL She's had no problem taking me out, if I get in her way. She likes to jump and RUN FAST, but doesn't like to turn. I told someone running her is like driving a runaway Mac Truck. LOL Then there is Rikki. She is GOING to be awesome, but it's going to take a while. She'll have the technical ability that Frankie has, as well as the speed Rosie has. But with her being so timid, her training has to go very slow and sometimes we have to come up with alternate ideas. But, the more training she gets, the more confident she becomes. It's great to watch her come out of her shell. If she continues to improve in class the next couple weeks, I MAY enter her in a couple trails later this fall, just one class, to see how she handles herself.
