The mother fought a good fight but passed last night. She had been holding her own but had developed pneumonia on Tuesday and with her already smoke/fire damaged lungs and secondary infections from the cuts/burns on her body she could not fight any longer.
3 of the 4 children are home and the last one has had skin grafts and her grandparents and aunt are learning the wound care procedures so that she can hopefully be home this weekend. I am not sure how much the children can understand. They are 8,7,6 and 4. The oldest has very severe autism, the next 2 also have autism but it is milder. They all have the same father who is a drunk and has not been in their lives much. The youngest's father has been involved some but is not really an upstanding member of the community.

What an unfortunate situation all the way around. Hopefully the grandparents have the strength and the resources to make a difference for these kids.

Jenni, I see that this thread is a few months old. How are they adjusting? Any word?
