My hubby just got a text from a good friend whose wife went into premature labor and delivered twin girls at only 22 weeks just after midnight last night. They lived for about an hour and then passed away. This was the second attempt at IVF after fertility treatments and other interventions. We saw them just a week ago and she said her pregnancy had been uneventful and she was doing well. Sounded like all was well, she had just had an ultrasound and was talking about the "growing" pains she was experiencing. I am overwhelmed with sadness for them, especially since we are just celebrating Caiden's birthday. They have a good network of family and friends to help them through this but I can't imagine going through what they are going through.

How sad--I am so sorry this happened to folks who so much really wanted those babies.

Sounds like they found a blood clot in one of the placentas which they think could have caused her labor to start. She hadn't felt well all day but thought it was normal, by the time she realized there was a problem and went to the hospital she was fully dilated and there was nothing they could do to stop it.
They named the girls Hope and Faith. They were able to get pics of them through a service provided by professional photographers who volunteer their time to take pics of babies who have passed. There is a private "family" memorial service for them tomorrow that we are invited to.
They have a couple of fertilized eggs saved yet and plan to try again when they have grieved and healed, provided the docs don't find any additional issues. Strange to think that the future baby will technically be the same age as these babies because it was conceived at the same time.
