He looks almost like a smokey black? Or just black. Sure has a nice lil butt.

Have doen a lot of brushing on them this past few days while was home (been with Dad for a bit again). Where he's fully shedding out it's a deep deep brown color. Leg's almost look darker but are still a brown not black. Just not sure LOL

I'd say he is black. If both parents are black/white - the only options for him are black or sorrel/chestnut. Do you know his parents black gene status? Was he mousey colored gray brown as a baby?

The cream gene changes the black to a dark brown sometimes. I had one and I thought at the time she was a liver chestnut. I was surprised when she had s buckskin colt by a bay arab. He looked golden bay until he shed out to Dappled buckskin as a yearling. Gorgeous color. Or one of his parents could really be a dark bay or brown instead of black .
