Last night we were invited out to a buffet. I knew before going that this would probably be some of the bestest foods anywhere.
Before we left home I sliced up an apple and some swiss cheese. I knew that by the time we arrived at our destination I would be starving if I did not have something to eat before leaving the house....and that is never good for me.
The buffet was HUGE!
I am very proud of myself! I survived the temptations. Did not take anything with starch.
I went back for seconds and was going to pick up some of the salmon and itty bitty ribs ... when I walked past the dessert bar
I decided to skip the salmon and ribs (I already had some earlier) and picked up ONE dessert. I picked out the smallest piece and did not go back for more!
At lunch twice a week I rotate between Pizza Hut buffet and a Chinese food buffet with a friend. While I'm not strict yet (my jeans still fit...for now) I do make it a rule that my first plate I'll stuff myself full of greens, and at Pizza Hut I try to only have the thin crust. Usually I do pretty good and feel good the rest of the day
Buffets are hard on the diet. If the deserts don't get me the carbs will. I have been trying to drink three of my water bottles of water every day. It seems to help. Winter of course is worse because of less acticity.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
Buffets, especially if the food is good are hard! Sounds to me like you did really well and stayed in great control of your choices and quantities! I basically don't go to buffets if I have a choice.
I stayed at a hotel last week with a breakfast buffet. I swear, a third of it was pastries and other sweet delights.
What worked for me was surveying everything, making a plan, going through once and not going back. I figured it would be there next morning if I really **needed** something and sure enough it was! I did protein heavy, skipped the OJ which I love but is so sweet and triggers desire to eat. It worked out fine and by going low sugar/low carb it didn't trigger cravings.
“Transformation is not a future event. It is a present activity…That is why you must bring everything that you have to give in every moment…And it doesn’t have to be perfect, it’s not about perfect, it’s about effort. When you bring that effort every single day, that’s where transformation happens, that’s how change occurs.”
